The rain is pretty sporadic. It is still dry here, 4-5 miles west.

Still, it was not unexpected and one of the reasons I stayed at home. There's not much to do there on a wet night.
Even the bars are mob scenes.  :drunk: :drunk: :drinks: :drunk:

The forecast is fine for tomorrow.  The real danger is what happened two years ago when Monfils had to play until well after midnight and was a sitting duck for Stepanek at the final the next day.

Still no rain here. But if I'd been at the court, I could have been on TV!  ..-)

yep saw it on live stream. Hopefully it will resume eventually. 2 matches tomorrow would be a bit too much for either player.

Incredible how rain delay turned this match around. Haas had him at 4-1 with amazing momentum and after the rain delay and painkillers by Delpo he got back into match winning the 1st set 7-6.

Tommy's frustration is obvious but even then he fought 'til the end. Nothing's over 'till its over but this delay and all was really annoying!

I did not wait up, I'm afraid.  :(

While waiting for the rain delay to finish, I was watching the old movie The Big Sleep and it did it's job  :sleep 2:.
Everyone smoking there, even in the Main Titles  :smoke:  :rasta:. Snappy dialog, though.

I'm looking forward to the final today. Isner will have the crowd behind him  :grind dance: :thumbs-up: and the outcome may well depend on health issues. Del Potro, with his cultural background, will not have been bothered by the late hour. By the time they finished, it was time for dinner.

Remember folks, that Del P often takes the first set to just warm up.

I'll certainly go to the final tomorrow  :)) .
It was deja vu all over again :))

Thanks Lugburz.

It didn't look to good early but then DelPo got into the serves better.

On to Montreal and best of luck to Haas there.  :king:

When I watched the first part of the first set of the Haas / Del Potro semi, Haas was playing the most sublime tennis & Del Potro seemed at a loss. It was very late here & the rain delay meant I couldn't watch beyond 4-1 when they stopped play.
So when I saw the result yesterday, I was surprised that TH lost the match in straights - I expected it to be a better contested match regardless of who ended up winning it.    Sorry Haas couldn't get through, Lugburz.

Perhaps Del Potro starts slow. For he got broken twice in the first set of the final, with Isner very much in control, playing some quite superb, attacking tennis, going for winners & painting the lines.  But Del Potro remembered why he was there in the second set, and didn't look back.  His booming forehand worked magic, he moved well & served well & basically dictated terms.

Well done to Isner for playing well & getting to another final.  And congratulations to Del Potro for coming back after injury to play his game beautifully again.  I like what I see & hope he can stay injury free, and give the top players something to think about during the US hard court season.

Swish - what did you think of Del Potro's game in washington?

Carpe Diem

He was pretty good but a little up and down, he has to start out better than he has when playing the top guys.

He should do very well in the Rogers Cup, no physical problems and has time to get his game tuned up.
