Nadal skipped AO and won the following slam at RG. Murray skipped RG and won the following slam at Wimby.

So that's the receipt for GS success, skip a slam and win the next.

Davydenko skipped Wimby and will win the next slam, US Open!

Kolya winning the USO would be great. I'd love it  :). unfortunately it's too late.

IMHO, he used to play so many tournaments. then all of that rumor fixing up matches.

I don't think, despite to all of his fantastic skills, he believed he was a slam material. He was driving Nadal crazy. Doesn't he have a positive h2h with Rafa?

Somehow, he was so scared of Fed. A young Nole was a problem too.  I've seen too many of his matches.

He could 'slice and dice'. A great player to watch. IMHO, very underrated by tennis fans. but nowadays if you are not a part of that 'elite big 4 crap' nobody seems to care (and this is coming from a Nole fan, although I picked Nole as my favorite player when he was a nobody back in 2006)  :zipped: .

Davydenko is a great player. Great technique. I can go on and on. So Slash, this is a very good thread  :)

Davydenko is too old but can have moments, I pick him to go all the way.

Miss him at his best, what a game he had at times.

Great angles and pace. Movement was also top notch.

But you've seen him enough, what are you looking for in the answer?

What is your take?

Same as you've noted.
No big weapons.  Steady and usually unflappable.
Makes the most out of what he's got for skills.
I prefer watching him over David Ferrer.
CONK da ball!!!

I liked the fact that he wasn't a grinder..He always stood near the baseline & tried to hit the balls early..like federer ;)
You can ignore reality, but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

Yeah, I think that's why he's able to generate better angles than someone like Ferrer who is 8-12' further back in general.

This is getting more plausible as each day passes. Look at Davy going to the quarters in Montreal. He's got a good chance for a Semi too. :)

Unfortunately his health wasn't up to it  :(  0-3 ret. against Pospisil. Said he couldn't breathe  :(
