OK, Gary, Maria was born in Russia, not Serbia. I think Novak Djokovic was born in Serbia  :rofl_2:. There is a huge thread about Maria here already  :). This just made me laugh so hard  :lmao:

Hi gary !

Maria Sharapova was born on April 19, 1987 in Nyagan, Soviet Union. Her parents, Yuri and Elena, are from Gomel, Belarus. Concerned about the regional effects of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident, they left their homeland shortly before Sharapova was born.[8] When Sharapova was two, the family moved to Sochi.

Info about her birth place - Nyagan :

Nyagan is one of the youngest towns in Western Siberia. It was established in 1965 as a forestry center;[citation needed] it is now principally a center of the petroleum and natural gas industries, and was originally named Nyakh (Нях). This toponym appeared on maps in the same year, but the town was renamed on August 15, 1985.

:)

Litotes:
No comment about the part that says she's been #1 for four years?  :rofl_2:

I know, I noticed that too. I just didn't want to push the OP too hard. It was just too funny when he said 'Russian player born in Serbia'. I said in Russia, Ash is right it was Soviet Union at that time time which is true but she is Russian.  :)
