Oh, gosh, now they are out there with the towels sopping up water.

This is on the verge of being comical.

They need to call up some German engineering/architecture firms.  The retractable roof at Halle is an extremely light-weight translucent fabric, it shuts in 90 seconds, and isn't even mainly supported by the main stadium. The main supports are poles set outside the stadium.

The USO is still enthralled with having to have the roof built onto the stadium, and with the size of Ashe, it becomes a massive weight which the underlying base can't support.

monica seles was a pioneer of the sport:

a day will come when the players will play just like her. both on the atp and the wta:

1. they will hit 2 handed strokes off both wings

2. they will also have a single handed forehand to compliment their double fisted forehand

3. and of course they will have a backhand slice to go along with their double handed backhand

**the game of the future has to have consistent deadly finishing power off both wings.

that is the direction the game has to go.

Time to make Indian Wells the new US Open location.  Change it to relatively fast low bouncing grass. Ellison can afford it.

Change Miami to clay...   No more slow hard courts.  The clay season starts in South America, then Central America, then North America (Miami and Houston), then move onto Europe.  No hard court play until fall after the US Open.

Clay tourneys from Feb through end of May culminating in Roland Garros.

Grass from June through early September. Wimbledon early July on the "higher bouncing grass", add 1 or 2 grass masters, culminating in US Open at Indian Wells on "lower bouncing grass" in Sept..

Outdoor medium fast hard court from mid-September to October. Move Australian open to end of October, speed up the courts some.
Indoor hard court November- December culminating in WTF before Christmas.

Then give players a break from 20 December to February.

Three natural surface slams.  One hard court slam.  No slow hard courts.  Will reduce injuries.  Better surface and travel transitions.

No more New York rain-outs.

There may not be a Sunday start but they've already scheduled one extra day, the Monday final. Even though I'd prefer a Sunday start and a Monday final.

here is another thing to consider general august:

they don't have to have a retractable roof over the main stadium. they can just have it on the other main show court. that will be progress.

but their strong propensity to do nothing is fast becoming a bloody joke around the globe.

General, I guess one could have predicted it with Nadal's return and him playing so well.

Yes, it is a sickness to have this. It just promotes and festers hate.
I guess there are some humans that need that kind of entertainment to feel better about themselves.

here is the draw again. action is heating up in new York if only the rain would stop.

http://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/draws/ms/index.html

youzhny vs Hewitt looks quite interesting folks. one of them will most likely will face nole.

I am not giving up on marcel granollers. he may just produce an upset of a lifetime. he can do it all. his ability to end points at the net is sensational.

anyway I think I will pick youzhny in that contest. I think he will take it in 5.
