NEW HAVEN & WINSTON-SALEM (8/17-8/24, 2013)
« on: August 19, 2013, 07:54:00 PM »
Decided to put these two together since they are smaller tournaments and most people will be talking about the US Open anyway.

Winston-Salem seeds:

1.  Berdych (Scratched)
2. Seppi
3. Isner (scratched)
4. Robredo
5. Paire
6. Queerrey
7. Verdasco
8. Monaco

New Haven:
1. Errani
2. Kerber
3. Kvitova
4. Wozniacki
5. Vinci
6. Stephens
7. Lisicki
8. Cibulkova

Some results so far: at New Haven:
Makarova d Wozniak 62 26 76(5)
Halep d Hantuchova 62 61
Nararro d Vinci 75 63
Knapp d Svitolina 63 64
Goerges d Jovanovski 62 46 75
Stephens d Schmiedlova 64 64
Pavlyuchenkova d Cirstea 30 (retired)
Zakopalova d Cibulkova 36 63 63
Puig d Hsieh 76 61
Vesnina d Morita 20 (retired)

Seems like they've already lost a lot of their seeded players

AT WINSTON-SALEM:
Berankis d De Schepper 76 64
Agut d Nielsen 61 63
Goffin d Sock 46 63 10 (retired)
DeBakker d Sijsling 36 64 64
BLAKE d Williams 61 75
Pella d Mayer 76 76
Rufin d Istomin 64 36 63
Majut d Kubot 63 61
Gimeno-Traver d Roger-Vasselin 76 76
Johnson d Reynolds 61 62

Querrey is playing now (down a set; but up a break in the 2nd)
Russell and Smyczek is tied a set all

Congratulations to 2 time NCAA Singles Champion Steve Johnson who scored his biggest pro tennis win tonight in Winston-Salem with a three-set victory over #2 seed Andreas Seppi of Italy.

NCAA tennis starting to make an impact?  See Isner's run ast week.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg
