It's Raonic who run out of gas. His 1st serve has gone from 137 to 95 in the last 11 games.

Gasquet to serve for the match!

Machiavelian is pitiful without his serve.

Nadal has been missing some gimme's this match.  Very uncharacteristic of him.

Nadal now with 53 holds in a row, and only faced 7 break points!
He's got a decent serve and can back it up for sure.

Notice that Nadal is averaging 107mph on 1st serve. That's about 14mph less than his average in 2010 US Open. He's using it to setup his first groundstroke, rather than going for free points.
“It is not too far way,” Toni Nadal told The Australian after Nadal collected the 13th major of his career by mowing down Novak Djokovic in an electrifying final of the US Open. “It is getting very, very close for Rafa to be level with Roger or more.”

Hewitt after reaching 4th round on facing either Haas or Youzhny:
"At least I know who I’m playing. Half the draw I don't know any more.''

Good one Hewitt! Lol! Well I'll just relax and watch the matches. The only one I have left in the draw is Stan, and he has a tough one this evening.  We will see how that one goes!

That's my point. Nadal isn't going for speed this year, he's going for direction in order to set up the point. Plus I read an interview in 2011 when they asked him why he didn't serve at full pace after 2010. He said that he doesn't like serving at full pace, because the ball is returned to him too quickly which gives him less time to make a clean first strike and less time to make a backhand into a forehand.

Yes but you didn't point that out nicely then. You said he doesn't go for free points off serve but rather set it up for groundstrokes which is a bit misleading since he's getting free points off serve even with less speed than in USO2010.
Proving that you don't need speed serves to get 'free points' off your serve.

Nadal is getting VERY FEW free points with his serve at the US Open. He's simply dominating from the baseline. Very rarely serves an unreturnable serve. Lots of rallies in all his matches on his serve so far. Whereas in 2010 he was indeed winning free points with his serve and a good number of aces.

It would be a neat bonus if Nadal achieves a new US Open service hold record. Nadal 2010 and Roddick 2003 share the record for fewest breaks. Nadal appears to be far superior to his QF and SF opponents. And hopefully he can restrict Murray/Djokovic to only one or 2 breaks. I think Djokovic broke Nadal 3 times in the 2010 final.

Djokovic is cruising 6:3 6:0.

I wanted Hewitt to win but it wasn't meant to be. Kudos to Misha.
