Qualified!

Men
Karlovic
Devvarman  Winner
Young (USA)  Winner
Dancevic  Winner

Young the only US man to qualify this year, I believe. Quite unusual that. I believe it's the 9th straight MD appearance for Don.

Sounds impressive, but then he did receive quite a few handouts (WCs).

Difficult call this year.
Nadal has the ball rolling.

Fed, Djokovic and Murray.
What's up with these players?
Never have seen the top of the field so off of thier game.
You can add Del Potro's lazy performance of late, the big guy looked like he lost his dog.  :)>>>>

It can change at any time, a few early round wins and add to that the ground game working well can have an impact on confidence in later rounds.
So all three of them can find inspiration quickly.

Besides that it's a slam, what else do they need?

draw from hell for Djokovic. DP in QF, Murray in SF, Rafa/Fed in F. maybe it's a good thing.

It's a good draw Alex :innocent: players can fall before QF.Potty not the best Draw if both are in the QF.Not dropping set's will be huge in the 1st week @ USO.Roger never played in Montreal, can he peak @ USO?Murray's done the same as last year in the 2 Masters, but peaked in the USO last year.Birdman could face Stan,Will Stan's backhand fire @ USO,if it does he can be a right pain 2 anyone.Has Nadal played 2 much leading into the USO to win it?These are things that i'm thinking about ATM.

But what if Nadal still has no bandages on his knees next week? I've very rarely ever seen Nadal  without bandages at a slam. Hard to say he's overplayed, if his knees are better than ever.
“It is not too far way,” Toni Nadal told The Australian after Nadal collected the 13th major of his career by mowing down Novak Djokovic in an electrifying final of the US Open. “It is getting very, very close for Rafa to be level with Roger or more.”

Nadal has over played before, leaving him worn out for the last part of the the year.

Was it being tired or just not having the game for hards? Not easy to say.

But now he has flattened his strokes out which is helping.
He also hasn't faced inform players regularly either.

It has to be watched if eventually the hard schedule and making it deep into rounds will catch up with him.
It's hard to keep high intensity for a whole year, only Federer has been able to do it.

Nadal did it in 2010, won Roland Garros, Wimbledon, US Open and made the final of the world tour finals. We'll see if he can do it again (well, not quite as hard this time, no Wimbledon). And in 2011 Nadal made the final of 4 slams in a row (RG11, Wim11, USO11, AO12).

Do you all want this thread 'sticked' to be the "official" one?  OR...do you all want a separate men from the women "official" one?

Here's the schedule of play for Monday.

No one's really going to talk women. It doesn't matter.

I'll leave this one as the Men and start another for the women.

I didn't mind either way, but now that you separated them I realize how much better it is this way thanks  ://

Predicting U.S. Open 2013

Very well written. The analysis really only plays the percentages. No way to predict upsets....

Now every match for Nadal and Federer has dynamite implications. Each round is one step (or two steps) closer to the most pivotal non-final match of their lives. Nothing could be greater than a Fedal US Open clash. It will send shock waves throughout America.

What?! Fed and Nadal in the same quarter?! What?!  ..-)

Not gonna say I called it, but...I did. Baker got Del Po 2nd round if he beats Hewitt, and Harrison got Nadal first round. Sock got Jerzy second round most likely. Ugh. What is with the Americans getting screwed at the USO draw all the time?

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Have you noticed how when Nadal and Federer clash it feels like there is electricity in the air? Its like there is this huge weight of importance resting on every point. I don't sense that quite as much with Nadal-Djokovic. Nadal-Federer feels a bit like Sampras-Agassi matches felt.

Seems that way but it's not like they would do much no matter who they played.

They just aren't good enough and who is?

You have the top 4 guarding every slam, no exceptions and most likely they have to face two of them.

There's no openings at the dinner table so leftover scraps will have to do for now.

It's definitely a bigger rivalry (or at least was) than Rafa/Nole. Even now, people still flock to the stands for their matches. IW was a pathetic match, but it was nice to see Roger make a real match out of Cincy. Hopefully he can do the same at the USO.

There's definitely no way they'll win anything any time soon, but it'd be nice to see em make some waves and get into the Ro16 or quarters every now and then.

My favorite match is a Nadal/Federer QF.
