WTEff??!!

The crowd is actually cheering "Monfils! Monfils!" after he breaks Isner????

I was just going to comment on that. It is beyond pathetic. I can't believe it  :ranting:

Just shut up, Alex. Everything upsets you and sid. Go buy a pacifier, dude.

It's one of those "Only in America" kind of things and Monfils knows exactly what he's doing. That said, John better f**king win in 4 because he's beginning to empty the tank. If he gets extended to 5, win or lose...it's kind of, "Oh well, he is in Rafa's section, after all..."  :\

Especially considering he's our prime player right now and continuing to improve! And it's not like he's a dick, either. He seems like a really nice, polite guy who always loves getting the crowd involved. And then they turn on him like this?!

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Phew! Left something in the tank for the 3rd round.

John looked awesome for 2 1/2 sets then started making bad errors.  Unfortunately, I couldn't watch the 4th set. I suppose it was an ugly win.

The crowd going heavily pro-Monfils obviously affected him. He had a hard time settling into that. But eventually he found his serve in a big way for the last part of the 4th set. The tiebreaker was closer than I though. After how he was serving in his last two service games, I figured he'd easily hold his own service points and then get one or two on Monfils's serve and finish it out quick. It turned out being a little more tricky than that. But he pulled it out in the end! Sucks that he has to play Nadal in the fourth if he makes it that far :( I wanted to root for Isner for longer than that!

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Isner has a garbage on-court personality. Its great that Nadal has never lost to him. Nothing worse than losing to Isner, I suspect.
“It is not too far way,” Toni Nadal told The Australian after Nadal collected the 13th major of his career by mowing down Novak Djokovic in an electrifying final of the US Open. “It is getting very, very close for Rafa to be level with Roger or more.”

One thing that Isner does, and did tonight, is acknowledge the crowd and wave them to their feet. He did that early before Monfils stole the spotlight with his clown act.

Monfils:

"I win, I lost, who cares?"

That's apparent.

Surprised by the support but says NYC is his "second home."

NYC clearly feels the same toward him. Who knew :dunno:

Some explanations for the Isner crowd's reaction:

Fans were fed up with all the 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 beatdowns (men and women) in the marquis matches. So the fans were letting out their frustration and rooting for a 5 set match.

It was actually a big international crowd.

Whatever the case, I have a hunch that Kohli is in for a rude awakening. I suspect the crowd will overreact for the :paper bag: Monfils crowd.

Monfils supplied all the entertainment. Isner supplied nothing.

No need to get personal. Everyone is allowed an opinion on what Isner brings to the table. Serve-bots are not exactly in demand you know....

He showed much more game than that last night, but you choose to parrot ass clowns who'd rather say something not so clever like "Servebot."

Ass clowns.... again with the personal attacks (and an immature attack at that). I don't see why you care what I think about Isner. It doesn't bother me that you like Isner's game.  Everyone is allowed to point-out what they like or don't like about a player.

Don't worry, man. That's just Babs's personality :)) You'll get used to it haha

But I de agree with him. Isner is much more than just a servebot. He's got a big FH, he's never afraid to pull the trigger, he's got pretty good movement considering his size, and he has incredible touch at the net.

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

I know it's en vogue with the younger generations, but ignorance isn't an opinion.

Isner's stats
winners 60 (23 aces)
net points won 37/63
break points won 3/9

That's a s**t-ton of tennis. The problem is, you kids don't even know what tennis looks like.

I didn't care much for Isner until this summer, when I saw with my own eyes  :shocking: :shocking: how much he's improved his game. I have no f**king idea what you were watching...a replay of Rafa???

Rafito! Several months ago I promised I would pick on Rafa as soon as they got to the American hard courts. Remember? Well, I'm here to eat crow. Rafa, per usual, made the changes I wanted to see. More aggressive, better court position.

:thumbs-up:
