Djokovic got the job done, but I'm not too impressed. Becker played well in the first set, had 2 set points but wasn't able to convert and lost it in TB ... then he just disappeared. Again, Djokovic was pretty mediocre but let's say, it's R2 ...

Nothing better than a Nadurray final. Finally!  ://

We'll see about that. I wouldn't be surprised if your butt picker loses to Isner or Berdych.

Fun fact about Berdych..... Nadal has won their last 14 matches (and only 4 of those were on clay!). I mean is there any more sure thing in tennis than Nadal beating Berdych? And Nadal leads Isner 4-0 (and Nadal beat him at the fastest court in America!). But they are fun match-ups anyway, just because of the contrast.
“It is not too far way,” Toni Nadal told The Australian after Nadal collected the 13th major of his career by mowing down Novak Djokovic in an electrifying final of the US Open. “It is getting very, very close for Rafa to be level with Roger or more.”

I wish I could root for Isner further than the 3rd round, but he can't stand up to Nadal (nor would I want him to). In Cincy, he played and served about as well as he could, and Nadal still won in straight sets. And Berdych doesn't stand a chance. He's having trouble with Kudla  :rofl_2:

Rafa is the FIRST to qualify for WTF this year! :D

Berdych wasn't reached the slam consistency of the top 4 yet, but if he meets Murray he can definitely beat him (Berdych leads that h2h 6-4 and has won their last 2 meetings). However I wouldn't expect Berdych to beat Djokovic in the semi. Berdych very good vs Federer/Murray, but no good vs Nadal/Djokovic.

Berdych leading Kudla 7:6 7:6 but he is not too convincing either. Kudla is playing well, not sure if he has what it takes to turn this match around.

He's got the ability, whether he's got the motivation and drive to come back from a 2 set deficit...that's a different story. He already blew the break lead he had in the third...

It was a little sad to see him go down in three. For a youngster like that, I'd think motivation wouldn't be a problem and he would just let loose and make the most of the opportunity. This was an encouraging match for him though, hoping to see more of him in the future.

Murray's up next. I've been trying to think of what sid is going to moan about today.

They put him on at 4:30!  :ranting:
He should have been first on at 11:00!  :ranting:
He should have been the primetime headliner!  :ranting:
It's hot today! They should have given him another day of rest!! :ranting:

Well, I found it! He got punk'd and put on Armstrong!  :rofl_2: :rofl_2:

Murray is probably the most humble person in the history of sport. Hope he makes the final.

At least he gets to watch all of Murray's matches. They didn't televise a single minute of Nadal's match and I ain't whining and making threads about it  :)~

Young putting forth a decent effort against Mayer so far!

OK Babbs, I'm cranky and I need to whine about something  :)~. let me think ... I'm not happy that they scheduled the Isner/Kohly match on Luis Armstrong instead on Ash. American player, the most interesting match tomorrow but no taste of Ash for Isner.

of course, sisters are on Ash again  ..-)

there you go Babbs, my daily rant is over now  :uh:

Don't worry about it. Isner will beat Kohli and then he'll get to lose to Nadal on Ashe

Isner is the favorite due to recent form, but interesting that Kohli beat Isner last year at the US Open-
6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Kohli had no problem breaking serve.

Here's something you guys don't get.

The USTA throws fans bones. Except for Ashe, all other venues are GA. A grounds pass gets you into Armstrong, Grandstand, Court 17, and all of the outer courts. It's awesome that they do this for the people who go. The players should understand that and I can't imagine they'd complain in rounds 1-3.

Today, the GA fans got treated to Murray! None of the other slams do this. Only in New York. It's one of many things that make the US Open the best slam, of course, file most of this under #youhavetobetheretounderstand.
As you saw last night, a GA crowd is much more NYC :cheer: :toot: than an Ashe crowd.

"Dumbass" is probably the most juvenile and silly word I've ever heard.

Florian Mayer

Even I like Mayer's game a lot, I more happy to see Young is gonna lose it  :)~
