LN can play well, and she showed she can. Yes, it was too little too late but far preferable to not trying at all.

Congratulations to SW for getting through to the final, where she will no doubt defend her title.

Her legal name is Tornado?!

And, yes, it's true. Her sister's name is Hurricane! :swoon:

Watched a bit of Da Sista's playing dubs against 2 Czechs.
It was painful to watch.
Venus just a shadow of her former self.
Waaaaay too many points where both teams played 1 up / 1 back the entire point!
Couldn't bear to watch it all. :(
CONK da ball!!!

Vika should have hit with more side spin today. Serena sets her feet so early she would have had a lot of trouble with balls cutting in and spinning away.

Excellent to see Hlavackova take the doubles title with Hradecka.   Her second title after the mixed doubles title!  Congratulations to the champions!

I didn't watch the singles match,  and it seems that VA made a match of it. Congratulations to SW. Her achievements are just incredible.

And so it's over for another year.

I'm so happy for Serena!  My #1 girl.  Sad a little for Victoria (I like her too).  But....Congratulations to Serena! :grind dance: :grind dance: :grind dance: :grind dance: :grind dance: :trampoline: :trampoline: :trampoline: :trampoline: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :first-place: :first-place: :first-place: :first-place: :first-place:

During Serena's SF match, they were commenting on the fact that Serena will be 32 years old  and Roger is 32, but Serena's level is higher than Roger's at the same age.  Then they mentioned that Serena was completing over 600 matches....meanwhile, Roger had over 1,100 matches.  That's a big discrepancy!

Also, after she won #17, they said she has caught up with Roger.  I don't think they should compare the Women's Slam vs Men.  Serena still hasn't caught up to the top person with the total number of slams for the women; however, the total for the men use to be 14 so that number was lower than the women's total showing how hard it was for the men to do best of 5 over their career and to get those career numbers up!

I'm proud of what Serena has accomplished.  But I'm also proud of what Roger has accomplished.  I don't think these 2 should be compared.  They deserve to stand on their individuality...their own merit!

17 is awesome. Seems it wasn't long ago I remember a headline "8 is not enough." She won those next 9 so quickly I didn't notice.

I believe if you double check, you'll find that Serena has over 30 slams, not 17 like the Rogi.

How sad that Rogi isn't skilled enought to play both singles and doubles like Serena has throughout her career. ;-()

Because then they'd have to shorten women's matches to one 8 game set in order to maintain parity you silly goose. ;-()
