Double Slam recorded @ U.S. Open
« on: September 08, 2013, 05:38:19 AM »

Andrea Hlavackova wins both the mixed (with The Beast- Max Mirnyi!!!) & the women's doubles (with fellow Czech Lucie Hradecka???).

I saw most of the women's final as well as the Czech's v. Da Sistas.
These ladies can actually play some doubles!
Occasionally resorting to '1 up 1 back', but mostly playing aggressively and usually the first team to poach.  I thought it was some of the most interesting tennis of the open this year.

On a side note, in the juniors, the #1 seeded girls team from the Czech Republic (Krejcikova & Siniakova) cruised to the title in straights 6-3 6-4.
Is it something in the water there or are they actually teaching these ladies how to play tennis? ;-()

There is a last name I cannot pronounce, although admittedly I can barely pronounce my own last name.  Did she win any other major titles this year?
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Mr. ScooterBakerKova, here's the book on Andrea-

Not so hot at singles, but a pretty decent dubs playa!
She and Lucie move pretty well together.  They seem really in sync on court.

I have to say, in person at least, I enjoy wd more than men's. The points are played at a speed I can appreciate. I have no idea what I'm watching with the men the points go by so fast. Mixed dubs is entertaining and the fans and players are having a lot of fun mostly when you've got a big serving guy against a woman or a chick aces a guy.

I watched both the mixed final & the SF with the Williams sisters. They are an excellent team, as you say Monstertruck and it's a nice story to see AH win two titles here. Congratulations to her & her 2 partners, Mirnyi & Hradecka.
