I watched the Del Potro-Gasquet match which Del Potro won with difficulty. He was lucky because Gasquet was able to defend his power game very well. It seemed to me that Gasquet won most of the long rallies. Del Potro might still have been suffering from his travails at the Paris railway station and seemed to me to be somewhat below his usual form.

I was pleased that Warwinka did so well earlier. Berdych is a tough one to oppose.

As must as I hate to say it...I think Roger is in trouble defending his final points from last year.  He's in a tough group. :(

Amazing season by Nadal.

Now to see if Novak can finish the season undefeated anyways.

Nicely done by Nadal.  Wish I could have seen today's match.  Sounds like a nail biter.  Expecting great things from Stan next year.  He had some crazy matches, he just needs to get over that hump.

Now let's see what Fed can do tomorrow!
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Roger did win against Gasquet.  Now he has to wait to see the outcome of Novak vs Del Potro.  I believe if Novak beats Del Potro, and then Roger beats Del Potro when they play, Roger can still make the SF round. If Del Potro beats Novak....who knows how this group will turn out! :confused1:

Roger will probably be too tired to do much against Nadal tomorrow, but good for
him to hang in there and keep fighting against DelPo today.
Not many people would have given him any chance of winning that
third set.  Way to go, Roger!

I think so too.  He had to go 3 sets today only to play Nadal (who had a day off today)... I wish we could see 2 Swiss in the final, but I know I'm dreaming... :innocent:

I didn't find it surprising when Federer won the 3rd set over Del Potro. Federer is the better indoor player. Even when Del Potro was up a break, I knew Federer had plenty of time to break back. And Del Potro had been struggling to hold serve throughout the match. Federer had been holding serve more convincingly, so no surprise to see Federer break-back and then eventually break again. The semi-final will be fascinating. Nadal's absolute worst surface (low-bouncing indoor hardcourt) vs. Federer's best surface. If these 2 guys are world's apart, its fitting that they play in Federer's favorite conditions. The perfect match.
“It is not too far way,” Toni Nadal told The Australian after Nadal collected the 13th major of his career by mowing down Novak Djokovic in an electrifying final of the US Open. “It is getting very, very close for Rafa to be level with Roger or more.”

Except that Roger had to play a tough (mentally as well as physically) match today while Nadal was 'resting'.  Add 5-6 years apart, and the announcers said the surface isn't bouncing as 'low' as in the past..., as well as Roger's low confidence; Nadal winning everything this year; finishing #1, etc., all these things does not bode well for Roger in the match tomorrow.  Just keeping it real.  I WISH Roger could win, but I really don't see it with my head.  With my heart - I hope he does.

Conditions favor Rogi, but Raf has been an absolute MONSTER this year.  If Fed were to overcome his indomitable will after all they've been through together, it would be a sweet victory indeed.
