Singles draw:

Zaballos holds the title.  I see that the erratic Dolgopolov is out already, losing to Gimeno -Traver in 3 sets.

Robredo is paying L.Mayer & they’re a set a piece & going with serve in the 3rd.   Robredo had a good year last year & I hope enjoy’s this season too.

Looks like a good time for the troops to return to the home soil, relax and begin prepping for RG.

Umpire makes wrong decision, this point should not go to Jerzy.

A couple of interesting semi's coming up in the Open Sud de France, with Gasquet -v- Janowicz  & Monfils -v- Nieminen .   I watched some of the Monfils -v- Istomin QF match & GM played some excellent tennis.

In the PBZ Zagreb Indoors, Haas , Cilic, Phau & Evans are through to the SF's.
It will be Cilic -v- Phau  & Haas -v- Evans.

At the Royal Guard Open,  the Fognini -v- Chardy  QF match is in progress with FF just winning  the 1st set 6-4.   I'm watching this match for a bit & FF looks comfortable out there.    Girado & L.Mayer are through to the SF.

Chardy doing well to focus & play more aggressively, winning the 2nd set 6-3.
FF can hit a beautiful forehand. However, Chardy gets an early break.  FF looking a little subdued.

Loool! FF breaks back to love!

In the Sud de France Open, I’m pleased to see Gasquet through to the final, beating Janowicz in 2 closely contested sets.  I like JJ too, but RG is an old favourite.
Nieminen took a set off Monfils, but the latter seems to have dominated in the 3rd set, and an all French final looms large.  I hope RG can take the title.
And in the doubles here I hope Mahut / Giqcuel will take the title.

In the PBZ Zagreb Indoors, pleased to see both Haas & Cilic through.  Their final should be worth watching.  Daniel Brands has had a good tournament, and gave Haas a good contest,  taking a set off him in their SF match. I hope he’ll take heart from his good performance here & continue to do well this year.
I hope Rojer / Tecau will lift the doubles title.

In  the Royal Guard Open, the SF’s will be between  Giraldo / L. Mayer  & Fognini / Almagro.   The latter one should be interesting.
I’ve no favourites for the doubles here.

Would love to see both Gasquet and Haas play well.
I still haven't given up on Cilic either. :innocent:

OKay, I was surprised to see Cilic at the AO. And I've yet to hear any player backlash about his suspension. What was that all about and how come you're giving him a pass, monster?

I've always liked Cilic's game.  That doesn't deter from the point I think you're making Babblelot.    As I understand it, he's back because he's served his time on a voluntary leave of absence and not because he is exonerated. I don't think the full verdict / finding in relation to his ban has been made public yet.

Thanks GBY. Just got to watch Gasquet take down Jerzy. Impressive indeed especially considering indoors is where Jerzy made his name. I wonder if Jerzy is going to be amount to anything more than a dangerous floater. He sure seems to be nothing more than that.

I haven't given up on him.
He says he didn't knowingly injest the substance.
He's been punished and served his time.
If it was indeed a 'mistake' on his part, I think time will tell.
Bottom line is these guys can't put anything in their body without verifying all the contents.
A daunting task I would think.

It was a disappointing loss but I'm still proud. Soon to be 36 year old, Tommy's still defying the odds beating youngsters only to lose in the final.

Well, Monfils gave Gasquet a lesson today. Congratulations to him on winning his 5th ATP title.  He has done well thus far this year, as runner up in Doha & winner here.   Pity Gasquet wasn't up to a better challenge. He couldn't find a single break point against the Monfils serve. I suspect his best match here was against Janowicz.  Babblelot, you ask a good question about JJ.  Mind you, I'd like more "dangerous floaters" out there to rock the boat on a regular basis.
And my pair Gicquel / Mahut lost .

In Zagreb, Cilic got the job done in straight sets too, winning his 10th title.  Sorry Haas couldn't win it, Lugburz.
Nice to see Rojer / Tecau win their first ATP title here.

The Fognini / Almagro SF in Chile looks well contested, going to a tb in the 3rd set.  I hope I can watch it somewhere.  FF ought to beat F. Mayer, who won the other SF.  But this is FF we're talking about, so who knows!  :)

Well done to Fognini!  He took the title in the Royal Guard Open, continuing an excellent run on clay.

Good to hear Almagro was back on court. Something tells me he might have choked away his opportunities to win! What a nightmare if so lol
