So its the current exhibition match that a lot of the top ladies are participating in and its been full of shocks thus far. The biggets being Maria Sharapova getting SPANKED by Elene Dementieva 67 63 61. Is that an ouch score or WHAT?!

Anyhow, Venus won too

the highlight of the exhibition tournament for me. She beat Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. Supposedly she only had 4 unforced errors which is typically really good for Venus but doesnt say much if she played Vera that close and played so well. I thinkthey may have ipped on that count but nevertheless, this was a good match for Venus and I'm hoping it gives her the boost she needs to get on top for the AO. She plays Kuznetsova tomorrow.

Also, despite Venus & Serena's doubles loss, there's talk of Serena's interest in getting to the top again. Maybe she'll finally get her head back together and add that more spice to the game.

She only had 4 unforced errors? She shouldn't lose a set with those kinds of stats. They usually avergae about 40 errors on a good day.

Venus def. Kuznetsova 5-7, 6-2, 7-6

Though this is only an exhibition, this has to do wonders for Venus' confidence. In the final she'll play Elena Dementieva.

That is a great win for Venus. She needs some wins like that before the AO.

I like the fact that Venus is playing these exhibition matches before the AO. She needs match experience right now. The last few slams when she goes out it is like she is using the first few matches as match play warm-up. When she was winning slams she came in already prepped. She needs matches, I hope she gets it together, along with her sister.

I knew the sisters were going to play dubs together, I didn't know they were in the finals. Who did they beat to get there? Have they played more than 1 match?

They actually haven't won a match. They lost 7-5, 7-5 to Dementieva/Zvonareva in a match that didn't count (courtesy to the fans), then won the actual match by default as another player withdrew. Serena, though she says she has healed, seemed to be hampered by the abdominal injury and wasn't serving at full speed. They haven't played doubles together since Wimbledon 2003.

Wow, 2003 eh? That is 18 months. I was hoping to hear they had won some matches... Bummer...

If Serena is still looking injured it will be interesting to see how she does at the AO. I am pumped for the AO this year, some good stuff going down.

I hope Serena does ALRIGHT in the AO. I dont hope she makes the final or anything becuz frankly, she hasnt prepared like she should and I dont want he rto do well based on no dedication. If she can do that, she wont take interest in preparing and ultimately, precautions are what will pay off in the long run despite what happens in the short term.

Venus, on the other hand, has done her training and lots of preparing and you can tell that she's trying so hard to get back ontop. I hope she does really well in the AO and I hope she does well in her match tomorrow.

I hope Justine, Amelie, and Lindsay make their way back in too even tho I hate those first two. Just imagine what the game would be like to have Amelie as she was when she reached number 1, the Lindsay Davenport of this summer, the Williams playing as they were when they reached 1 & 2 in the world, Justine and Kim at their best topping it all off with the Russians.

Now THAT would be some amazing tennis to watch...course it'll never happen.

Amen brother! There are 8 women would could just create soem very exciting tennis to watch, but most seem injured or not dedicated or both.

Where on earth do they come up with the names for some of these tournaments? Watson's Water Challenge? It sounds like a show on Animal Planet featuring athletic dogs performing water tricks. And Uncle Toby's Hardcourts? I don't know anyone who even comes close to having an Uncle Toby in the family. I'm an Aunt. Should I petition the ATP or WTA to name a tournament after me?

Have to say as an all-female exo, I hardly took any notice of this. It's a pity the WWC didn't include any men's singles or mixed doubles this time around. Last year they had a final of Federer v Ferrero (JC won), and Roger played mixed with Martina Navratilova
