Henman put in an absolutely TERRIBLE performance against Davydenko: His first serve percentage was too low, he missed forehand after forehand and he didn't manage one break of serve in the entire match, despite numerous chances and the fact that Davydenko has a tame serve. To lose to guy like Davydenko, winning only 8 games in the process, it truly shocking; Henman easily has enough in his locker to take care of a guy like him. This is the one thing that seperates Henman from the likes of Hewitt, Agassi, Federer and Roddick, there kind of guys won't have days where they can't hit a particular shot in court, as is often the case with Henman, particualrly on the forehand side.
I know that on this board we are all in agreement that last year was Henman's best ever year, going past the R16 of the FO and the USO for the first time, reaching the SF of both. However, it should be noted that Henman turned in similarly poor perormances in the 1st Round of both those tournaments and was lucky to get through those matches. Against Saulnier in the first round of the FO he was down two sets and saved match points, and at the USO, he was two sets to one down against Karlovic before somehoew scraping through.
What I am saying is that he was a little fortunate last year. Its too early to say whether Henman is on his way down in 2005, but this realyy was an APPALING performance. Don't get me wrong, Davydenko played well, but Henman allowed him to grow in confidence.
