Well, apparently Roddick pulled through pretty easily after the first set.  His opponent played a great first set!
Good Luck on the Court!!!

The draw is starting to look interesting.  We're looking at a potential 3rd round matchup between Coria-Ferrero and a 4th rounder between Roddick-Massu.

This is a fun AO, I have never paid so much attention to the draws and such.  Doesn't look like any of our top 16 seeds lost in the first round either.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Is it me or does Federer seems to enjoy spanking his opponents  :))
I hope he keeps on spanking all the way to the trophy  ://
I've been a tennis bum for half my life.
I'll just be a bum for the other half.

:lol-sign:

I am sure he gets some sort of pleasure out of it.  He is like a friggin robot out there.  I love how he thinks on the court.  Never a stupid shot, always in the right place, always balanced, always brilliant.  I hope he spanks all the way to the final too.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

I cant wait for the Federer vs Safin semi, the Roddick vs Henman quarter, and the possable Roddick vs Hewitt semi.   That is when the tournament really heats up, when those five contenders play each other.  I hope Henman can take Roddick out.   I am a bit worried of him playing Roger in the final, I think he might be due for a win but I want it to come in a smaller event.

Federer plays his second round tonight, anything can happen.  Haas is down 0-2 in the 5th set, not a good sign even if he wins this match.  Right now the top seeds need quick matches and to get the heck out of this heat.

Agassi plays today too, I hope that hip holds up.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

First off, Agassi OWNED Rainer Schuettler!!!  6-3, 6-1, 6-0!!!  That's impressive even if Federer had gotten the same result.  I don't know.  Maybe Agassi's hip injury is a blessing in disguise.  If he's thinking he needs to end points quicker, and he has a couple of awesome days, it could really help his energy levels in the later rounds.  Rainer only won 4 games!  That is amazing.

Mardy Fish continues to underwhelm us all.  That's a match you think he could, would, should win, even on a relatively slow hard court.

Haas smoked the X-Man in the first round.  I thought he was going to be a factor in this tournee.  Then he loses to Karol Beck.  Weird.

Safin dominated Ulihrach.  Looking good.  But not as impressive as Agassi's win.  This is getting very interesting.  Even MORE so.

Suprising loss from Haas no doubt.  Agassi had that match won before he stepped out on the court, I am not too suprised from the result.  Hopefully his hip can hang in there when he is really tested, but this is exactly what he needed, short matches.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Are there any players in the draw who you want to lose in the first round?

I'd want Tim Henman not only to lose, but to suffer a career ending injury.

Federer didn't breeze through against a qualifier.  The article I read said he had to play some incredible tennis, although he still won relatively comfortably in straight sets.

But he plays a lefty next.  And Jarkko beat Paradorn pretty handily.  Could be interesting.

Yikes.  Agassi's got a nasty draw.  Just noticed.  Dent must be playing decent.  I like Agassi's chances against Dent, though.  If he can get Dent into some long points early on, Taylor will probably wither in the sun.

But he's got Joachim J and Federer after that.  Ouch.

Could be, but Jarkko's never taken a set off him in 5? matches.
