Hit with wifey last night. We hit for just an hour but it was time well spent. Worked on her slice serve as she has never tried that before. It was rough at first but showed improvement towards the end. Taking a few steps back to take a million later will be well worth it! Wifey and I have mixed dubs Friday night which I am excited about. But first I have to take care of business tonight. OSU, VIC and MM on the court tonight. Who will play with who is anyone's guess.

She is actually using the continental. I went to show her what grip to use and she was already using it. So proud. : )

Wifey and I will ring in the new year from 9:00 PM to 12:30 AM on the courts. This will be the first year I have been on the courts when the year changed. No one better to spend it with than wifey!

It was good stuff. Wifey and I won our first 2 matches and then we tied the last match at 4-4 when time ran out. We were lingering so I told the guy to serve one more time knowing that would probably put us behind 4-5. He held but it was on serve and I would have been up next, so I will count that as a tie for now.

Because my calf has been achy (and I am afraid it will pop on me) I have been doing some walking and running on the treadmill. I have not really been bothered by the calf the last few times out which is a nice thing. I am also hitting the treadmill for about 4-5 minutes of walking before tennis, that seems to help a ton. Probably a habit I need to continue the rest of my life.

I just got done walking a mile and a quarter and then running a mile and a quarter on the treadmill. I take 4 pound weights and do bicep curls in sets of 100 (50 each arm I guess) 6 times while I am walking. Takes about 1 minute to do it, then I rest a minute and then repeat. Helps the time go faster.

Now I am sitting down and eating a chocolate chip cookie the size of my head to undo everything I just did.

Listen to your body after using weights while on the tmill!

That used to be one my favorite way to boost my heart rate while walking. Sometimes carrying the extra weight resulted in knee and hip pain. Sure is lots of un though!!! You can experiment with different movments and the time just flies.

It's just 8 extra pounds. Although I am considering trying those large 5 pound weights next time.

8 lbs x every step you take on the tmill is no small toll.

Luckily I am only on the treadmill for 8 minutes with weights and 8 minutes without while I walk. I do not use them when I run.

Played a weird match last night. It was VIC and I vs. OSU and MC. They came out ablazin'. MC was just smacking back our serves like it was his job. He abused us raw with that return and OSU was doing his thing not missing any either. I got broke to start, they held and we got broke. Down 2 breaks and no one has even broken a sweat yet. Of course part of the reason was that it was freeeeeeeeeeeezing in the club last night. I hate it when it is that cold in there.

So OSU goes to serve and we get a break back. 1 break seems better than 2 for sure! So I hold and then we break MC which is rare. We all hold to a tb where VIC and I take it 7-4 or so?

It was a really weird set. I played kinda bad. Missed too many volleys, felt out of place all night, even warm up was pretty rough, but that was me. VIC was smacking ball all night. He was hitting some serious pace out there. Even his framed balls were dropping in for winners.

Second set is where it got ugly. We go up 1-0 with a break to start and MC was winding down. It was cold and the points were pretty short so I stiffened up. Up 3-2 and serving I was done. I just powder puffed serves in to get through, got broke and then we each held for 4-4 and time was up.

Weird night, basically just left it unfinished. As bad as I was playing and as cold as it was in the club I was more than happy to get the racquet in the bag and search for warmer ground.
