Wow, a journal update from someone who plays tennis!

Open house sounds like big fun.  How many members in the club?

Let us know if your serve speed would get the job done on the WTA.  Vera & Masha were between 105 and 110mph yesterday.

Well, I mainly hit kick serves, especially outside.  Inside I will mix in more slice and flat serves and pep up the pace.  So even if I clock a 105 tomorrow it will be on a serve I do not hit bu 20% of the time indoors and 10% of the time outdoors.  I should hit a few kickers just to see where they fall in terms of speed.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

I've always intended for kickers to be slower in order to create time for me to amble just a bit closer to the net..... :))

Interesting day at the club.  It was an open house day and so it was a free for all.  I hit some balls with one dude and then with wifey in some mixed dubs.  I took it super duper easy on them and I don't think we dropped a game.

The club was packed today.  They had a "1 Point Tourney" which I avoided because I did not want to lose one point to some 2.5 player and be sent home packing.  I was pulled in last minute though when someone could not fill their spot in the first round.  So 5 rounds later I won it.  They just tossed a coin and that decided who served.  Play one point and advance if you win it.  Weird.  Heaven forbid you have to hit a second serve. :)

Then they had a "Fastest Serve Contest".  Players will killing serves and they were only in the 90s which was weird.  I was almost last so I saw a ton of players try, some pretty big dudes too.  When it got to me the fastest serve that had been hit in was 99 mph.  The fastest attempt was 110 but that guy hit the back mat with his serve.  I ended up getting a 102 mph serve in and won that contest too.

In the end I won both contests they had and got 2 free hours of court time at the club, I will gladly take that!

Snuck out for a quick hitting session with Jamesdster tonight.  Surprisingly humid out there tonight, it made us both feel like slugs.  We hit for just over an hour which was perfect.  I thought I had tweaked my calf coming down the stairs 90 minutes before we were supposed to hit, luckily it felt fine on the court and it feels OK now.  Give it a day or two and then fire it up over the weekend!

We both looked like drowned rats at the end.  The humidity level was unreal.  We got a great practice session in.

I did not notice the humidity until we walked out of the club and made the decision to hit outside.  Next time we hit inside!   :)>>>> :)>>>> :)>>>>

Went out and hit with wifey yesterday, we had the 3 kids and we were pretty hungry so we did not last long.  We hit 3 baskets worth of balls.  3 baskets lasts a lot longer than it used to since wifey is more consistent.  We were probably out there for 45 minutes.

Hit with the ever famous Big Jim D tonight.  Good solid hitting, we were not at our best but we still hit some sweet shots now and then.  Looking forward to getting out with Jim D this weekend for another round.

For the most part OK.  My good knee was achy last night, mainly from hitting topspin forehands which I never hit in a match so hopefully it was just due to practice.

A good 90 minutes of practice in mildly humid conditions.  Good workout.

Got my tennis in today as I was called to sub.  The indoor season has started!  94 degrees out and we are playing tennis indoors already.  Welcome to Ohio!

I played well but it was a 4.0 league.  It is good for me to work on some stuff and just overall play solid tennis.  No assigned partners today, it was kinda a free for all.  One guy said he was really rusty so I told him that him and I should play together.  he played fine though and we tore Pimpin and TW up 2 & 2.  BP was my partner.

The new indoor courts really slow the ball down so I was hitting a lot of kick to reap the benefits.  We will see how well that kick fares though Wed when I play with the 4.5 crew.  They will not be as bothered by it.  :)

I was referring to the indoor court action yo.  Unless Pickerington Central resurfaced their outdoor courts to match the indoor courts at Scarborough and then put a building around the court to enclose it, then I will hold to Wed...

The forecast isn't looking great for our match tomorrow.  Rain.

Let me see if I got this straight.  You beat up on Pimpin and TW and yet made fun of me for beating a nationally ranked junior???   :rofl_2:
