Just put your mistakes down to playing indoor tennis, rather than being outdoor where you seem to play a large majority of your tennis. I wouldn't worry about the way you were serving, because if you know that is very rare for you to serve like that and double fault then you can just tell yourself it was just one of those days, that happens every now and again. Hows the eye now? sounded pretty nasty, and I'm hoping that you didn't keep rubbing it when it was shutting and hurting a little.

Played some more doubles tonight. I do not think any of us played outstanding, but we had some really solid points. It was windy and I used it to throw up some offensive lobs into the wind that really paid off. I hit one lob that they hit a defensive overhead on that I got to and then I lobbed a sweet lob over one dudes head which took him well off of the court, deep and wide. He runs it down, it was behind him, somehow while facing backwards gets next to it and flicks the wrist. The dude hit a nasty cross court shot, clean winner. Pure nasty. Look for it on ESPN Sports Center Plays of the Week.

I still struggle getting my serves deep in the box outdoors (need a few more matches outside), but I was getting very nice kick on the ball. I was also serving into the wind, so that did not help the service depth. I would of rather served with the wind, maybe flattened a few more out.

I returned very well, took some huge swings that paid off. Overall though, a few too many errors, but luckily it was just between league-mates. We won 7-5, 6-4.

As it was windy when you played last night, I really wouldn't be too concerned about the errors you made and the depth of your serve. Wind can totally screw the games up of some professionals, so we're aloud to make mistakes when it's windy

as it is just so tough when it is constant throughout the match. Sounds like a good match and the right result for you, so just think that if you hadn't committed quite so many errors you could have had them 6/3, 6/3. If there's one weather condition I hate- it's wind and we've had it for about a month now solid.

I got out on he practice court tonight and just hit a lot of balls at first. I felt kinda tired tonight, I think I am over-worked, what is new.

I ended up playing a set of singles, I lost 2-6, 3-0. It was getting dark, apparently that is what I need to win games off of this dude. He is tough. Awesome return, great groundies, complete game, and of course he is a lefty.

I hit several slice approach shots off of both sides tonight which were smooth. I do not do that too much in doubles as I am not on the baseline too much, so it is nice to get back to some of my old ways of singles.

Sounds like you could have done with staying on the court a little longer looking at the way the 2nd set was going. From what you've said it looks like your work over the last few weeks had come onto court with you and you had extra baggage before you'd even began taking on a tough opponent, so you can just put it down to tiredness.

Played yesterday as a sub in a league. I won 6-4, 6-2. I played OK. I do not focus like I should in those leagues I sub in. They are typically 4.0 leagues and I can be off and still win. Although I am not focused I still get mad when I do not play well, go figure.

I pulled a back muscle or something before I went to tennis yesterday. I played anyways and then came home and moved landscaping stones for 5 hours. My back hurts today. I am suppose to play some doubles tonight, but I think I will bow out and rest the back.

I played singles again tonight against the guy who beat me last week 6-2. This is one of those rare ocassions I actually win. He did not play great, I won 6-4 (we mostly practiced and then just played 1 set). I was down 1-3, so I guess I pulled it together well after that.

We were at 4-4 and it was my ad against his serve. He came to the net and hit a short volley. I ran up and hit a lob, he started peddling backwards to hit it so I started backing up. I took 2 steps back and decided to stand my ground pretty much at the service box lines. He hit the overhead at me and I blocked it back. Next thing I knew we were both at the net. He wasn't aggressive enough and I closed in to put the ball away after a few volleys / half volleys each.

I have no doubt that if we played best of 3 he would of tore me a new one. But then again, darkness was soon to come, I seem to do well against him when it is dark. I should only play him at night.

I forgot to mention that I finally got my lead tape and tried it out last night. I put a (2) 1/4" wide strips on each side of the racquet at 3 and 9 o'clock on the racquet. It felt fantastic. I felt like I had more stability on my shots. It was such a small amountof lead tape but it worked well for me. The one shot I have been shanking a lot lately is running around the backhand to hit a forehand and trying to drive it up the line. But yesterday I was hitting them like I would want to. It is like the extra weight was just enough to keep the racquet head where it needed to be and not allowing it to get ahead of myself. I am loving the lead tape.
