Those drills have you guys have been doing are definitely paying off.  The improvement in both your games is pretty amazing.  

I have been on a court exactly 2 times since you (Scott) and I teamed up on the clay about...a long time ago.  My paw feels a little better now but I don't have time for tennis with little league baseball in full throttle (jr made the allstars and his team is practicing daily (nightly) for their upcoming tournament.  I think it ends Sunday so maybe I can unretire next week.

Thx BB!

Played one of the the same guys today (go figure) and it was bad.  We played on clay which is not my favorite surface.  I was encouraged though knowing I have played well on the clay earlier this summer a few times.  But today was bad.  The clay was super dry, I had a hard time getting my footing, and oh yeah, I missed all of my shots.  My partner did too.  We got cooked 1-6, 2-6.  They played OK, just hit the ball in and waited for the error.  it is tough for me to play against their type of game when I cannot push off with my feet quickly.  

The good news is I was not too worried about this match.  As bad as I played I did not get mad.  I wasn't thrilled either though.  But usually when I display such crapola tennis I am mad.  The bad news is I did not talk to my partner much and try to pump us up.  I was really just happy to see the court today though.  This was not a USTA match, just an open league in the summer for players who get kicked out of the 4.0.  So you can really draw some tough players, like Jeffro's opponent today.

Tuesday is our big match.   We are in first place and if we win 3 (or more) of 4 courts we will go to Districts for the first time at 4.5.  We we tie 2-2 then the 2nd place team still has a shot to tie us and then it comes down to sets lost and for some reason I thought our captain said they can beat us in that department.  We will see.  My goal is to just lay smack down.  it will have to be a super positive day.   I am pumped for it, bring it on yos!

Well, my partner and I lost tonight 3-6, 6-7 (0) but the rest of the team won so we qualified for Districts which is sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

I played OK tonight, nothing spectacular.  My partner has been laying off of tennis some due to injury and he did not play all that well.  He has been rock solid for so long now I have no complaints.  He struggled in the first set and did a lot better in the second set.  I just could not raise my game the extra level I needed to.  We both played sub par in the second set.  The guys we played tonight played very well.  I poached a ton of shots and put them down hard at the net man's feet and they just kept coming back, kudos to them!

My forehand got shaky at the end of the match, but I had really only hit 7-8 forehands in the entire match, they typically served to my backhand and then I tried to get to the net.

My partner and I survived a service game of his that had almost 30 dueces in it.  I had never been in anything like that before.  We actually held serve which was nice.  I think my partner doubled 7 times in the game which is way out of character for him.

In the end, the night ended well with the team win and our first qualification for 4.5 USTA districts.  Districts will be tough but I plan on laying some smack down.

Hells yes!  We are finally going to 4.5 Districts!  I hope this means our team is in the process of taking that next step.  Now lets go see what we are made of!

I now know the outcomes of 2nd and 3rd dubs, and since you said that you only lost 1 match that must mean that you won both first dubs and singles.  Were they close matches?

While you were there, we jumped out 4-0, two holds+two breaks and right about the time you left we started our skid and of course lost the set 5-7.

They only played 1 set?




We were all supposed to get bumped and not be able to play due to the rain and leagues/lessons moving inside.  However, we had the 3 courts available for the dubs and the singles had to wait till 8:00 when the next court opened up.  They were playing first one to win 9 games but at 9:15 had to stop because the club was to close and our chuck was up 7-5.

Yeah, I thought it looked like you were cruising in set 1.  That's a nice job to come back and win 2 straight sets after blowing the first one.

You guys should be proud of your accomplishments.  Not many teams could go from 4.0 to winning a 4.5 league in 3 yrs (or whatever the amt of time it actually was..a short timeframe that's for sure).  I bet the other club team is steamed  :)~

I wonder if they are steamed?  To me, they seem to lack that fire at times.  I guess it has to do with priorities.  They went to Districts 2 yrs. ago and defaulted 1-2 courts in every match.  Wait, it just ocurred to me that was proly the season you played with them.  Was it?
