Played last night, didn't play great but I did OK.  It did not help that I had to use 4 different racquets throughout the match.  I broke a string in one racquet, made the switch to my other good racquet that had a hairline crack in it.  I thought that would last another 6 months.  Nope, little crack became a huge crack over 30 minutes of play.  I then switched to my wooden racquet for a few points and then finally used Jeffro's NCode (which I loved).  But it was nice to get some match play in.  But the news gets worse.

For budgetary reasons I think tennis for the winter will be eliminated for me.  Not something I want to do, but something I think needs to be done.  Should help my injuries to take several months off, maybe grab some extra time to study for my Architectural tests.  I also think I will try hitting the weights after the first month off and see if it helps when I come back next summer.  

Not looking forward to it, and it is not 100% final but I think it is 90% final.  I do have the option to just pay the winter fee and just sub all winter and not play USTA.  But if I am not going to play USTA I really do not care to play at all.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah, me too Jamesdster.  I have been thinking about it ever since wifey and I talked about it.  I am going to see what strings I can pull and get in on the winter game.  I am willing to do it for the kids if I need to, but I do not want to.  Plus it is tough to leave me teammates hanging as well.  We are already one person short for the season.  Of course if you would just bite the bullet and join our team we would be set.  You could play singles, doubles, whatever you wanted.  I know you do not like to hang out with us lowly 4.5 players, but I think we could look past that.  

Get in now while the getting is good, we are making our run to Districts again this year and I have every intention of advancing past that as well.

I guess I should say I have put aside my financial burdens for now and play through the winter.  I am too addicted to tennis to let go of an entire winter.  Jamesdster called me on it.    And he has also asked me to sub twice since then at the local club, and subbing is free, so that is sweet!  Luckily in the winter I get to sub a lot!

And as for the racquets go.  I think I am getting (2) NCodes 6nOne.  I really do like those racquets.  I have been e-mailing someone online about used ones.  He has (4), I am going to try to unload (2) of them off of him.

USTA league starts tonight.  I have not been playing barely any matches lately so I am a little nervous about it.  I have not played real solid the last 2 matches out.  But I am guessing I will have my normal dubs partner tonight and he always gives me a lot of confidence.

Scratch that.  They cancelled a doubles court and I volunteered to sit out the match.  It is a money saver and I am the obvious person to sit anyways.  Just makes it easier on the captain.  

But the real reason the other team defaulted court #3 doubles is because they knew I was playing on that court and they were avoiding the embaressment of getting manslaughtered.

The other club team offered me 1 "FREE" Coors Light per match if I'd join them.  I countered "per changeover" and haven't heard back.  If they accept, this might be a tough offer to match and quite frankly, I'm not sure I will be able to say no to that.

Since I usually lose 0 & 0, that should only cost you about a 6 pack per match (6 changeovers in 12 games).

I got my NCodes today, strung one of them up and Jeffro and I went out and hit.  I really like this racquet.  It feels far more solid than my last one which is nice.  It is slightly heavier but I do not mind that at all.  I had added lead weight to my last racquet.  I am anxious to play a match with them and see how they feel all around in the middle of a match.  I have used one of Jeffros before for match play but it has been a while.
