Behind in my journal

Last Sunday played some fun dubs with Jon L, Eric, and John F...Jon and I split w/ those 2 and didn't play a 3rd

Wed played in the over 50 4.5 league and Mark L and I beat C Jones - Doug M 3-6 6-4 10-3

Practiced 1:45 w/ Jeffro today and we worked very hard on drills. I was really spent at the end.

Umpiring 15 hrs the next 2 days (7/4 & 7/5) at a money tourney.

JD - Mark L defeat Tim P - Jim C 6-2 6-1. After losing the 1st 2 games we proceeded to win 12 of the final 13. Mark and I have been teaming up in this league and have meshed quite well together.

playing in some kind of round robin tourney tomorrow starting at 9am. Comp won't be great, but the people will. Practiced for 2 hrs with jeffro tonight. It wasn't our best; we both were very unsatisfied w/ how we practiced.

Round robin dbls tourney...very cool format......6 cts.....you played 15 minutes rounds and scoring was just the number of pts you won in 15 min (e.g., 18-15 was a representative score for a 15 min round). After 15 minutes are up, you get a new partner and play 2 new players. At the end of 3 hrs whoever won the most points was the winner. I won and rec'd a $25 Appleby's gift card.

. The competition was mostly 3.5-4.0, so I guess I should've won (to be honest with you) but it was a lot of fun with a lot of very nice guys and that's the most important thig to me these days.

Scott and I practiced for close to 2 hours. It was a bit windy and it took us a while to adjust to that, but once we did, we stroked very nice. We were absolutely just hammering groundstrokes back and forth and were even keeping them in play.

My fh volley STILL needs tons of work (will have to do some serious drills). Scott's volleys need NOOOOOOOOO work as they are cash money

. Scott has 5.5 volleys at times as they are picture perfect, execution flawless. I would kill to volley like him.

Played 5.0 Rick last night (that's what I call him). We hit around for a long time then decided to start playing. At 6-6 we decided against a tb and just kept playing. At 7-7 I retired with THIS STINKIN FOOT PROBLEM!!!

Apparently, Scott and I have an identical problem with the ball of our foot. I shut it down at then end of our practice session last Sunday and it's not getting any better. I gotta get thru these next 2 weeks (WV Open/ Districts n Cincy where I will play 5 matches in 48 hrs). I don't know how I am going to make it thru the latter.

Anyway, last night was strange as my bh was as on as ever

and my fh and serve SUCKED! WHAT??

i DON'T KNOW HOW i WAS ABLE TO STAY IN THE MATCH. The bh has been solid lately and now the fh is in the tank. What the hey! Jeffro, get ready to feed me about a zillion forehands when we practice tomorrow. If anyone wants to join us (scott/osu), we are throwng down at Pick. Central at 6:30.

What foot problem? Plantar fasciitis or something else?

Sorry to hear it is bothering you on the court that bad. What sucks is that shoes made for tennis do not provide much cushion so it gets worse running around in those shoes. It bothers me more if I am are foot or walking around too much, especially in work shoes. I try to wear running shoes while at home since they are cushioned more. Luckily it hasn't bothered me enough on the court to affect me. Sometimes is aches a little when warming up in the first few minutes, but after that I do not notice it until afterward. You were noticeably limping when we were done hitting.

Get those anti-inflammatory pills and stay off your feet a few days as much as possible and see if it helps.

New problem. For a couple of weeks now it has been getting steadily worse. It's the area where the big toe and the next toe join the foot. The last 2 times I've played I quit a little early (with Scott and Rick respectively). My plan is to get thru the next 2 weeks hopefully where my tennis schedule is ridiculous.

Fri 7/17 - much needed practice w/ jeffro
Sat 7/18 - team match with osu's team
wed 7/22 - USTA match
Thur - Sun - WV Open
7/29 - USTA match
7/31-8/2 5 matches Fri - Sun
8/3 - ? REST for at least a week and see how it feels

jeffro and I just got done drilling for almost 2 hours. we took turns feeding each other a hopper of balls at a time.

did 1 hopper each of:
fh
bh
overheads
2 hoppers of volleys

foot felt a little better
