We are not hitting enough yo! I am not sure what time the club opens in the morning but I would always be open to early morning hitting too. The problem is we have no overall goal in mind other than burning calories and keeping our timing. Maybe if we were better structured and doing it more than once a week we would see improvement. We should also be playing a tb or two at the end of each session to keep the singles in us a little fresh.
Good exercise and fun, hitting around is.
Improvement steady through training and focused practice.
Weaknesses identify, technical, physical, and mental.
Corresponding drills complete.
Reached, will goals be.
Raise the bar and repeat!
Sample MonsterPractice-
20 min. warm up targeting balance and footwork. Compound exercises to train hand/eye coordination and mental focus as well. This can be done off-court or anytime for a quick exercise.
5 min. mini-tennis (work the wing that's weakest).
10 min. competitive mini-tennis.
5 min B-Bros. volley drill. Set a goal of 20 hits for starters with no misses.
20 min. Alley Rally. Track # of hits reached per week.
Use the remaining time to improve specific serves and returns. Hitting just one serve to exhaustion several times helps lock in the motion. Also allows returner to experiment with what works best for him returning that specific serve. Do not move on to training the next serve until you've mastered your weakest serve.
The crucial step to creating a successful training plan is to properly assess your game. This is where a teaching pro can be helpful.
