Jamesdster's Tennis (but mostly injuries) Journal
« on: April 11, 2006, 11:16:11 AM »
Basic Info:

Age: old
Height: 6'4"
Weight: no comment
Hand: Lefty
backhand: two-handed topspin but hit a 1 handed slice
strength: serve, forehand, blinding of opponent with forehead (when the sun's out)
weaknes: forehand volley; not able to get to the ball due to body falling apart
level: 2.5 - 5.5 depending on the day
favorite stroke: breast
style: get to the net yesterday
serve resemblace: McEnroe's closed stance but don't drag the back foot
doubles/singles specialist: enjoy both

Last night I attempted to play singles but my plantar fasciitis did not cooperate and I quit after a game and a half.  I think it's time to rest for a bit.  This is such a bummer because I had just got my game back almost to where I wanted it after being off 3 months (Oct - Dec) due to a bad back.

Prior to that, in July/04, I aggrevated my acl-less, arthritic knee and was off for 6 months (until around 1/1/05).  It took FOREVER to find the game after that.  Then when I did, the stinking back goes.  Now the heel!!!  Can't get ahead, always swimming upstream.  Oh to be young again like my buds Scott and Jeffro.

I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

I never realized  that injuries were so prone when you got older. I feel bad for you man and I hope you manage to heal quicker so you can get back out there on the court. Makes me cherish being young.

Shame about your injuries Jamesdster, I'm sure there's a fair few years left for you yet. You're still a joker though looking at some of your biog responses lol

yep, when I was young I used to remember "the old guys" always talking about their injuries and I vowed that'd never happen to me.....famous last words!

The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible.

Middle age is when you've met so many people that every new person you meet reminds you of someone else.

Lol no no, I'm simply saying, that's when you know that you're truly middle aged.
Live your life and forget your age.

Haven't sniffed my racket since 4/8, the day I decided to shut it down due to the heel (not Scott) but that part of one's foot  :;:-| .

CT - I will resume playing when the pain goes away.  I've been doing my therapy and it has improved slightly.  I hope to be playing againin a couple of weeks but we shall see.

Hope it's nothing too serious and that you have a quicker than expected recovery so that you can get back onto the courts and get your game going again.
