Ok…Buckeye’s been getting on me about a lack of entries so here goes.  My knee is locking up on me so it takes a while to get moving in the first set.  I can play “ok” but I will NEVER see 100% again but that’s ok as long as I can at least play semi-competitively.  It does get quite frustrating cuz I'd like to be my old (young) self against these youngsters and show them a thing or 2.  Plus, the last several times I have played have been pretty non-reportable matches in that I was playing “down” so to speak.  Well, tonight I am on a court with the Scott, John F, and whoever comes up from the other court.  So, if I can walk tomorrow and make it to work, I will report.  Unless Scott wins, which of course means it will be posted shortly after 10pm.

You won't be.  I finished tied for 2nd last wk and lost tb so the 1st round I will be playing with whoever comes up against you and John.

uhhhhhh this time I lasted 9 games before calling it quits.  I guess it's time for more tests.  Unbelievable.  The last time this happened was in October and you were on the ct at that time so I guess the prognosis would be ...YOU are my ailment.  But seriosly, I am VERY VERY bummed.  I do 60 minutes on the cross trainer at a WAY higher level of intensity than I ever get to in stinking doubles and NEVER have a problem.  Then I go on a court and out of the blue this happens.  I'm too depressed to even look at a tennis website so I'm out.

In all seriousness, log what you ate yesterday and see if you can remember anything on the days leading up to yesterday.  It cannot hurt.

Next round of tests are set up for 3/23.  I am not sniffing a tennis court until one of these docs can tell me what in THE HAIL is wrong with me.  <insert joke here>.  I will continue with my other cardio exercises because it's only BLEEPING tennis that gives me grief.  How in the heck can you ride a stationary bike for 60 minutes, get off gasping for breath and absolutley drenched in sweat, but can't play 10 games of doubles in cold weather in a short period where i didn't even raise my pulse...but ended up almost falling over from getting dizzy???  Baffling.  Maybe it was Scott's amazing play that caused my head to spin.

What was weird to me is that you never really ran that much.  Our points were generally short...

Very sorry to hear about this, Dster.  It seems like you can rule out cardio after this episode, or at least drop it down the liast (maybe cardio in combination with something else).  Have they checked your inner ears yet?  That's where all your balance & equilibrium parts are.  And your symptoms seem more related to that than anything else.  Have you noticed it more on your serve than when you're not serving?  That the stroke that's probably the "toughest" on your equilibrium, because of looking up at the tennis ball.

Anyway, I hope they're able to figure out what's going on.

The 4 times this has happened (July/Aug/Oct/March) it does seem to be brought on when serving.  And by the way, I did 62 minutes on the elliptical on Saturday, at times at a very high level, and as usual was just fine.

I am proud to say that I was on the court two of those times.  One of the other times I was around in the earlier stages of the match watching.  I think it is me...

Back to freebird’s comment.  I would buy off on the inner ear theory except for one thing.  The first signal/warning that the dizzy spell is about to occur is when out of nowhere, my heart starts beating like mad…then the world starts to turn different shades and then uh oh…..I’m am officially retired from tennis until a doctor can tell me what’s up.

The heart racing part definitely doesn't fit with the rest of the symptoms.  And is obviously the scariest part of the whole thing.

Just got back from the Heart hospital at Ohio State Univ...

they fixed me up with a halter monitor that I'm supposed to wear for 30 days and if i have anymore incidents, i hit "record".  then more tests upcoming..a "tilt test" next tues which takes 5 hrs, and an echo next month.  Now I am ready to play some tennis and hopefully induce another "episode" and then record it with the monitor.  So, I am unretired at the moment.  Who wants to play some tennis.  Get me now while I am out of form and wearing a schtinkin monitor.

Now that you mention it, he was on my court for 2 of the 4 times that it happened AND he was in attendance a 3rd time when I was teamed up w/ Jason M.  I think the solution is to stay away from Scottie.  His game makes me weak in the knees
