The knee (which will never get better) is the only impediment at the moment, but I can hop around the court ok.  If I can stay THIS way I can at least compete.  Since it's been about 5 weeks or so since my last "episode" on court, I may be ok for another 7 or so.

cgw, you'll have to forgive Buckeye for his girly behavior.  He doesn't watch much other than "The Little Mermaid" types of movies.

Indeed, it is I who am ashamed of YOU. In fact, I think I may be a little emotionally and psychologically damaged by your admission; perhaps I simply expect too much of you (followed by a long, drawn-out sigh). Look at The Godfather (btw, the first was definitely the best) as not a mob movie, but a fascinating study of the family dynamic. Perhaps that perspective would interest you more?

Subbed in the singles league last night (the hourly league version) against Jason M, the best player in the league.   Jason started out serving and we played at least 10 deuces and he held after 18 minutes    We played 6 games in a little more than 40 minutes and it was 3-3 and I lost the tb.  This match would've gone over 3 hours if we played 3 sets, plus it was indoors.  I don't even want to think about how long it would've taken on a slow court.  Obviously most of the games were back and forth with both of us having lots of chances to grab a lead but neither of us capitalized on several break chances.  I was not able to get in to the net on his service games much and he abused me from the baseline.  When I served I got lots of free points, especially on the 2nd serve kicker which I think he framed at least 5 times.  We both played “ok” but we both could’ve played better.

Clearly, that is the case!     Or, maybe I was raised by wolves........I didn't have cable till 2 years ago so that is about right!

I better post something about last night before Buckeye calls me out.  I played doubles on the court next to Scottie.  It was some pretty bad tennis overall.  I played very average with the return still stinking.  I served ok and the forehand was ok but the backhand wasn't doing so well either.  Upon further review, I guess this is me (serve and forehand). Volleys and overheads were fine.  The play was very sloooow, too much time on changeovers and lots of deliberate play and taking forever to serve, etc..so I kinda went into a funk and finished runnerup to the Rocker for the night.  I even made a sarcastic coment one time during the changeover about making the next one "teatime."  So I made no friends again last night.  If Scott won his court he will be moving up to my court and that means next week IT'S ON!
