I had to go with "no" on this one.  But if there was an option for "yes but not the majority of the matches" I would of selected it.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

if safin could come out next aussie open and just take out fed in the semis or final, it would give him so much confidence.  he could become 2 in the world if he got on a hot streak.  maybe he could even be 1 if federer got a bit hurt, or got down on himself a little bit.  safins time is coming.  i can feel it.   ://

If he strikes Federer down his confidence would probably sky rocket.  He finished this year with some serious confidence already, if he smokes Fed, no telling what the man is capable of.  That is a tall task though...

The answer is no if you're talking about Safin taking control of his rivalry with Federer.  And at this point it isn't even a rivalry.  Safin unlike Federer struggles to make far in tournaments and then when he has to play Federer he is usually very tired while Federer is not.  Safin doesn't have the game or mental toughness to beat Federer.  And that's a big advantage for Federer.  Marat had a good year in 2004 but he didn't even win a set from Federer this year.   :-o  Marat is my favorite men's tennis player but the truth must be told.  He is not in the class of tennis player as Roger Federer.  I thought in 2000 that Safin was going to become the next great men's tennis player.  But it didn't happen because he wasn't disciplined enough to improve his game and he suffered numerous injuries the past 4 years that hurt his game and helped keep him from developing into a great tennis player.  I think Marat Safin is more likely to have a rivalry with Andy Roddick than with Roger Federer.

You think Marat is more like a Rios in his personality?  I thought after the US Open victory he would dominate for a while.

Not even a set from Fed this year eh?  Ouch!

safin doesnt exaclty play federer in the first round.  if he deos its like aussie open final or masters cup semi.   when they do play, its really deep into teh tourny, and safin just doesnt win matches as easily as federer, although if he works at it, i think he can learn to win a few bagel sets agianst top ranked guys.  if safin were to play federer at the begining of a tounrey like 3rd round or soemthing, before fed has too much condfidence, and before safin has both hands taped up for blisters, safin would more than just take a set off him. when safin has a great match against federer, and he figures out that he can win, things will change.  safin can beat roddicks ass, and hes proven it.  i think roddick is havigna lot of issues with injuries, and his elbow must hurt like a b**ch after a 20 ace match.  i doubt he will last, but if he does, safin has better groundies, vollies, and mental game at this point.  never though id say that, but he does.  how the hell else did he stay in a tiebreak with federer at 18-20 ?  safin is the man, all he needs is a few good breaks and he can be 2 if not 1.
