hey everyone, i haven't seen you in a while :] i missed coming here.

the reason i've been so busy is because of all the stupid *#$@%#@ SATs and AP tests that i had to take (boo)
but now that they're all gone, i was able to go to prom and have fun, and now i'm just waiting for the summer..

which reminds me...tennis season for JV girls are already over...and I would like to know some tips on practicing my own. do you have any drills or advices to share with me, or the rest of the tennis4you forum gurus?

thanks always ;)

Another highschooler? I'm a junior, but I'm gonna take the French AP test next year. I took the April SAT and wanted to take the June ACT. But I got lazy and will take the September ACT so I can study all summer. I don't play tennis so i don't now if I can help you much. You can do what I do; grab your racket, some balls, and go find the nearest wall.  :))

Here is a link to an article about hitting against the wall:  http://www.tennis4you.com/lesson-lounge/tennis4you/informational/hitting-against-the-wall.htm

Alos, check out the Tennis4you Workshop.  Most of the drills require 2 or more people, but I am sure there are some for juts one person.  Probably mostly serving though.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

i also took the lang comp one which wasnt too bad..

oh, one more question: should I get private lessons or summer tennis camps? which one would i get the most out of my money? my parents are willing to spend about $700 dollars on tennis this summer. (or else i would make them). i know it's a squeeze out of them....but then again, everything is a sqeeze out of them  :))

Private lessons could be worth it depending on the coach.  RIght now i pay my coach $20 per training session cuz i train with him a lot, and I'm definitly improving much faster - i'll be ready for junior tournies in 3-4 weeks.

i wouldn't call it a bad idea at all, they're usually cheaper than private lessons, but you won't get as much personal attention.  but some people flourish when they learn in large groups, so who knows!  it could turn out great for you!

Nothing beats banging against a wall.  When I was first learning to play, I spent countless hrs practicing groundstrokes and serves off it.  And to this day, I still go to the middle school and pound away.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

Oh, thank you, Scott!!!! I so wanted to say something; but, since I'm the unofficial "dirty old skank" on the board, I was trying to control myself and not add to my reputation. Wasn't sure I was going to be able to last much longer!

Maybe I should go back to my post and do some editing.  Scott and cgw, shame on you for thinking such thoughts!  And shame on me for poor proof reading skills.
