i was just wondering who everyone is suporting in the upcoming world cup.
i myself am supporting australia.. we wont win but good luck to them!
post here any thoughts.. questions... debates.. or just show support for your team!!

I've got Brazil over Germany in the final. I like the contrasting styles of play.

I wish my beloved Azule[/color] weren't in Brazi's half of the draw; I have them winning the 3rd Place Game.

The Dutch will win, you will see, I want them to win so they will win.    Unless Federer wins the French Sunday, then I will have used up my quoto and will have to settle for the U.S winning which would be my last choice, blech.   A freudian bargain I made with the gods.   If Nadal wins the final the Dutch will win though, another reverse freudian bargain.

The Dutch will struggle to get out of their group. They always look good on paper but very rarely produce the goods when it really matters, and being paired with Argentina (many people's second favourites for the title), Serbia & Montenegro (who qualified with one of the best records from the European zone) and the incredibly pacy and robust Ivory Coast will hardly help their cause. They will have to bring their A game from the very start to qualify from the group, unlike the Germans who have a cakewalk through to round two.

And those who predict that USA will win, purlease - that'd be like Greg Rusedski winning, well, anything!

You know...when I first looked at coverage of this sport's playoff in the newspaper...I thought we {U.S.A.} had a first-round matchup against Angola.  I'd bet on the U.S.A. to win over Angola.  (We've a first round matchup against the Czech republic.)

Other than that I don't claim to know anything...except that Uruguay won the World Cup twice, and didn't even qualify for the tournament, apparently.

I'd like to wager and win on the United States....I'd like better to parlay a wager on the eventual champion... :))

IC looked really good today even though they lost. There really wasn't a huge amount between them and Argentina, it was just about who took their chances I thought............

Ivory Coast looked good today but I still think they will end up with 0 wins.  Their group is just too tough, they will be competitive in all the games but wont win one.   I see Argentina and Netherlands making it out of that group, I know alot are talkign Serbia and Montenegro make it, but I see them being the odd ones out in the end.

Many people said that England were poor today but we were never really under any pressure at all. We got the early goal and then just sat back and absorbed the pressure and never looked like conceding, really. Paraguay had a lot of the ball in the second half but England were always in control, but unfortunately everyone expects England to win every game 7-0. The fact Sweden could only draw 0-0 with Trinidad & Tobago as well means that England are a virtual shoe-in for the second round.

As far as th Netherlands go, I would not be at all surprised to see them be the odd team out in group C and tumble at the first hurdle. Great individual players but their team-play is suspect to say the least. And their defence is pretty lacklustre. Ivory Coast's defence (i.e. goalkeeper) ain't much better, but the strength of Drogba and the pace of Kalou could very well see them trouble the rather abject Dutch backline.

The Dutch will make it out of their group, you will see.  They have beaten the Serbs and their is no way they lose to the Ivory Coast.
