I'm VERY exicted to see my two favorite actors' fims come out this fall. Rupert Grint's Driving Lessons and Elijah Wood's Happy Feet

I can't wait for Running with Scissors, although I strongly suspect that it won't be as good as the book.

Babblelot if you haven't read the book I would strongly recommend it, especially if you plan on seeing the movie.

Yes, a few of us have been looking forward to this since we first saw the preview. It happens to be my favorite book of all-time. (I mentioned it in the books/literature thread). Annette Benning is playing the mother. Word is, she's Oscar material.

My expectations are purposely low for the movie, from the previews, it looks like there's been a lot of plot change. Gwyneth's character is barely in the book at all, but they make it look in the preview anyways, that she is in the movie a lot. But we shall see, I hope I am completely wrong. I mean obviously there are a few scenes from the book that they have to take out, but I hope they don't alter it too much. What's the name of the kid playing Augesten again? I keep forgetting.

Well I was too lazy to pull up the music thread, but the new Killers CD is fantastic, unfortunately it will probably be on TRL soon.

Finally the movies are going to get good again after a summer of mindless and forgettable blockbusters.

Movies I want to see:

Running with Scissors
The Last King of Scotland
The Queen
Flags of Our Fathers
Bobby
maybe Casino Royale
The Good German
Marie Antoinette

Did you see The Puffy Chair? I saw it was/is playing.

Fay Grim (Henry Fool II) recently played at a Toronto film festival. Looking forward to seeing that in any form.

You know I never did get to The Puffy Chair, but I reallly want to soon. Have you ever been tot Indiewire? its a cool site. Also check out if you can DanceParty USA, it was at South by Southwest, and a few other festivals, and I only know about it b/c my brother and his friends made it, but it got awesome reviews at SXSW so check it out. He actually is in a few scenes as well as being one of the producers.

The Departed tops my list for 2006   :H

SS06, I heard very bad things from a reliable source about Running With Scissors. It was playing at the same theater, but we opted for The Departed instead.

I do think I shall skip Running with Scissors, I do not want to ruin my view of Annette Benning, she was brilliant in Being Julia if you saw it, just amazing.

ditto and ditto (...and American Beauty); just giving you a heads up.

I loved The Killers' debut album. But I saw them on SNL and hated the first song they played. (I fell aspleep before their second song.)

Saw "Volver," a Spanish flick starring Penelope Cruz last night. A quirky film that I highly recommend.

Warning to guys: it's subtitled; unless you speak Spanish, much of the diologue is lost when Penelope Cruz is on the big screen.

Mmmm...  :)~  :)~  yum yum!!

The Puffy Chair was a fantastic watch.

Did Running With Scissors even get released?

I also saw Babel recently which I enjoyed although it was confusing at times.

The Puffy Chair was gone so fast I didn't get a chance to see it. I'll catch it on IFC or Sundance.

As far as Running With Scissors goes, my friend said the director (some TV guy making his debut) turned it into a humorless, '70 campy P.O.S. She was so disgusted, she talked me and a buddy out of seeing it (again, I can wait). Instead, we saw "The Science of Sleep." Much fun, but definitely not for everyone.
