Hey Babblelot, did you happen to catch Bobby, I really want to go see it, I like the way it looked to have been done. Sort of a Robert Altman may he rest in peace approach it seemed like.

No, post #1 on page 1 lists the 11 films I've seen to date.

I think I'm going to pass on "Bobby"--just don't think Emilio Estevez can pull it off.

Isn't this Eragon something based on work by a 19 yr old (as of now?) -- from what I read in the reviews it is not very good...but that's probably just critics being unnecessarily picky.

Since I'm a fan of the TOlkien stuff -- i will watch it, nevertheless, and enjoy it for its own sake... hehe!  :lmao:

Saw my 14th 2006 movie last night, "The Lives of Others." Will win the Oscar for the Best Foreign Film and, IMO, should be nominated for Best Picture (period). See my rankings on post one of page one of this thread. "The Lives of Others" comes in at #2 behind "The Departed."

Go see "Notes on a Scandal," it's really well made and has 3 great performances by 3 great actors.  Probably one of the top 5 of the year, in my opinion

I just got back from watching Night at the Museum.  I still recommend Lucky Number Slevin of all the things I've seen recently.  Surprisingly good.  (At least, I was expecting only an action flick, a violent one...and was very pleasantly surprised.)

Slevin was a pretty good movie.  I am still beyond pumped to see 300!

"Eragon" and "The Pursuit of Happiness" were the two silliest movies I got to see lately. The first was plain dumb, a complete spinoff from other titles as Harry Potter and LoTR. It's okay to use elements from other movies, but then please, be a little more inventive in your copying ! Will Smith greatly irritated me in the latter, although there were some touching sequences. The biggest handicap for this film was that it was very 'soft'. Not in a touching way, but pure sentimental feelings. Too bad, because he has impressed me before in other movies.

"Dreamgirls" seems interesting: finally some kitsch again ! Bring on the wigs and flashy clothes ! I'm looking forward to the performances of Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy (both nominated for an Oscar). Being a non-american (I love that word) I've never heard of Jennifer Hudson before, so I'm looking forward to seeing her. Eddie Murphy goes back to his roots (singing), and I'm really curious. Reviews have been very positive, so i'm looking forward to it.

"Notes on a scandal" and "Das Leben der Anderen" are decent movies, the latter being one of my favourite films this year. I'd also like to see "The last king of Scotland" and "The Queen", simply because of Forest W. and Helen M.

BTW, I'm going to see "Heavenly Creatures" again. A very good film, and it has been a while since I last saw him.

Saw Casino Royale and Eragon this weekend!   Casino Royale was straight money!   Truly the best Bond movie I have seen!
Eragon was just aight for me dog!   I did love the Dragon and Dragon rider business and how they are one!  This made the movie worth watching IMO!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats what I was trying to tell Scott!   I am not even sure if he has seen LOTR??????????????????   :;:-|

I normally don't go to movies - don't even buy the DVDs.  I'm not a '"movie person"... BUT I did see Dreamgirls and was glad I did! :))  I hope Eddie and Jennifer win tonight!
