Good win.  Nate has his moments where he can play good tennis.  Heck, he beat Corrinne twice so he has to be decent.  I've never had a problem with Nate; some have complained that he talks too much.  That's minor to me.

He served quite well in the 1st set and some of the 2cnd set and he had his style of game working very well in most of the 2cnd set.  He was reading my shots well and getting everything back.  He was actually moving me around with his unreadable groundies and little slice line shots/drop shots.  It was frustrating for a while trying to get some rhythm on my groundies when he hit some decent groundies and lots of slower paced slices that were well placed short and along the lines.  He is a pretty hyper dude.

Forgot to mention my serve:  it was driving me nutz!  I must have clipped the net tape on nearly 50% of my 1st serves.  It was truly unbelievable!  I must've been lacking some energy in the motion.  I also was not getting my toss out into the court enough.  What are the other reasons I am not thinking of?

I actually do not enjoy playing him at all.  My luck Lester and I will have to play him and his son yet again in the Lancaster tourney.  Lester is playing well right now, I would hope we would put a hurting on them, but our previous match was a fairly close 2 setter.  My guess is that the son has improved since last summer, and kids can improve a lot over the course of a year.

VIC and I tore them a new one as he was kicking the net in anger last summer to win the Groveport Open Mens Dubs.  Now there's a trophy to be proud of!

Played Wed. night with Joe M. against VIC and MC.  We lost a close one 6-3, 4-6, 7-10!  I was happy that I carried my improved attitude from Monday nights singles match to the Wednesday night dubs.  I had been a little edgy lately and not all that happy with my play in recent weeks.  I decided to come out and have fun and forget about results so much.......just play hard and results will come!  There were some really nice points. 

JM almost connected one of those rare and special shots.  He ran back to retrieve a lob facing the other way........I was looking back his way.  I found it odd that he was really waiting on this shot.  He waited till the ball was almost to the court surface and then slapped a squash shot FH stroke off to his left side while facing the wrong way.  The ball was struck very clean and hard but it just clipped the net tape.  I was in awe of the attempt even though it didn't quite work.  I knew he had that kind of creativity and ability but haven't seen it in a long while.

Thanks!  It may sound kind of cliche but it really is true.  I for one, and I expect most people, can get caught up in expectations.........too high expectations and things can go wrong.  Also, nerves and worry of how the results are going or are going to go can really wreck your game.  I need to keep it simple.........play hard with a good attitude, working on proper mechanics as I know them, and I will always be happy when I leave the court...........win or lose!       Waxing philosophical this Friday!  Most days actually.

Played Saturday with Big Jeff against Mark M. and Chuck R.  The 1st set was pretty solid but the match deteriorated quickly.  It was 3 - 4.5 players and my partner is 3.5/4.0 somewhere.  He claimed to be 3.5 but I think he might be closer to 4.0.  Anyway, I felt the opponents went at my partner quite a bit and that drives me nutz!  Its like, I didn't come out to play tennis to be avoided.  I want the practice/play and get frustrated if they don't hit the ball to me as much as my partner.  In the 1st set my partner played very solid and we were right there......we lost the 1st set 4-6.  The next set was gone in an instant.....they got us 1-6 I believe.  I lost all interest in the match early in the 2cnd set.  Dreadful day on the court in the end.  The really bad thing is that I had my newfound attitude and succesful play the last 2 times I played...........but I didn't have that in me on Saturday.  Very frustrating! 

Other news, I move up to the top flight tonight in singles action so I join Jster and 2 other very solid players.  This means I play all 3 of them for the next 3 weeks.  I will be doing well/lucky to get a single win in the next 3 weeks but we shall see!?

Also, went to see OSU beat up on Wisconsin Sunday afternoon.  Very impressive stuff!  It was fun shooting the s**t with Scott while we watched Wisconsin's quite solid players get thrashed!  I can't believe it didn't rain more than just sprinkles and I can't believe I got some sunburn!  How about you Scooter?

I was very happy with my win last night against Chuck R.  He has much more successful singles experience than I do and is very frustrating to try and beat.  I got him 6-3, 5-5 (7-5), we played aTB at 5-5 in the 2cnd set due to running out of time.  I served quite well on my 1st serves as I got some aces out wide and many service winners with hard flat serves right at him.  I don't think he would be thrilled with how he played but I must have done some things right to beat him.  I held all service games until getting broke in my 2cnd service game in the 2cnd set.  I broke him on his 1st service game.  I felt I should have broken him more often but in the end I got him just enough.  I got my break back on him in the 2cnd set at 3-4.  I can't wait to see what chump I play next week?

I need some help from Jster to remember this good laugh we had Saturday.  I was running back to retrieve a ball at the side of my court and Jster was lining up a down the line passing shot winner next to me.  All I could see was straight at Jster so after he hits the shot I ask him if it was in and he replies some smart, humble remark like "your damn right it was"!      I started laughing out loud back in the corner of my court.
