Not to hijack your thread again....
This has been the worst season in recent memory for boy's tennis: my son's team has only gotten 2 matches in! To add insult to injury, yesterday's match was a "wind out". He played second singles in his first match and beat a kid in his program group at Wedgewood 6-0, 6-0!
Played first singles in his second match and won 2 and 2. Looks like they will play today (unless it's "too sunny") Figures the day I'm supposed to provide the snack wouldn't be cancelled!
In my own tennis, I've lost my USTA match (#2 dubs 4.0) 3 times in a row in 3rd set tb, either 10-7 or 10-8. Great matches and I've been playing pretty darn well (I've been working on my serve with the tips you gave me) so I don't know what to thinkl
Good stuff! Keep working at it...........thats all you can do to keep improving. Late match pressure situations are tough. You need to be confident in those situations but the confidence comes from pulling through successfully in those situations. Plus, there are other factors......your teammate and opponents play. But, all you can control is your play and be positive with your teammate. The better idea is to play extemely well through the match and ideally those 3rd set pressure situations won't even be necessary because you will beat them in 2 sets!
Good luck and have fun! What are we having for a snack BTW?
We had bagels, bananas and Hershey chocolate bars, along with Tiger Gatorade, Gatorade and water. Of course I was put to shame by the LAX and softball mothers, who brought pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, etc.
But our guys played at 3:30 and those teams didn't play till 5. (rationalization?) They just can't have all that heavy grease when there's only a half hour between the end of school and when they were expected on court!
Anyway, we swept all 5 courts, with my son winning at second singles 6-3, 6-1 (not sure - I was mostly looking at Paris pictures with my Mom)
