Didn't get to it yesterday but Freebird and I played Sunday night on 3rd court in the USTA league against the other team from our club.  We won 6-4, 6-2 with some very solid returning and some hard-fought holds of service.  I have so much confidence in our return of service game that we can always threat to break our opponents.  We did that well and got ourselves a much-needed victory!  Now we can start our win-streak!   :uh:

Yeah, the way I am playing lately you can steal my spot @ #1.

I am starting to be convinced that VIC needs a better dubs partner.  I think he could win every match at court #1 with a more solid partner.

Thats crazy talk!   :;:-|
I will talk to you at greater length later!   Call me if/when you ever leave work!

Last night playing at another indoor club in our area with Freebird was good stuff indeed!  2 or 3 of the others were better than me so it is always good to play tougher competition!   I was generally happy with everything last night, save for being broke once.  I think I only served 3 times all night though!  We just barely beat JMarks and BW for the first set thing, then just lost to DT and SS by 1 break.   I really enjoyed the practice drill that Bird showed me last night!   :H

I was hoping to compete against Pete Mudre last night as the dude clearly has many different shots and great control of them which will keep you on your toes.

Yo Bird, do you feel better today or still a bug in the belly?

Almost forgot, I wanted to remember my drop shot volley:  Bird hit a good serve that JMarks returned but not great, all I had to do was take a couple steps to my left and throw it down!  It landed within a foot of the net with some nice back spin on it!  It felt really good!   :H

I think you'd really enjoy playing Mudre, especially in doubles.  The guy puts some crazy spins on the ball, and has a great feel for the court.  Also, interestingly, has the reputation of having a great overhead.

Something still not quite right in the belly, but much better than last night.  At the end, the upset stomach wasn't really enough to affect my physical effort, but it definitely affected my concentration.  Irritating - Donato's is now in the doghouse!

Didn't you have a super-sweet dropshot in my first service game against DT and SS?  I think it was on ad-out as well, as I recall telling you "you'd damn well better not miss that one!".  LOL!!  For what it's worth, I thought that one was more spectacular than the one against JM - mostly because it's the one I remember :)
Good luck on the court is nice to have, but it's usually extraneous when playing against Baker.

I am either certain that the drop shot vollley that we speak of (and discussed immediately after) was against JMarks or I am losing my mind............or memory at least!

I'll get off work and get some sleep, and leave Saturday morning. I should get there by early Sunday morning. Get some sleep and be ready to bang some serves and forehands. If I leave right after I'll get back in time to take a shower and go to work....
On the other hand, I've got a date with a ball machine tomorrow, and perhaps some 3.0 level type tennis Sunday (the things I do to keep playing).

Yeah, on second thought we will proly just play with Scott and Freebird so that is pretty much 3.0 right about now anyway, besides all that driving and your legs would be fried!

Are you saying your 2.0 status would bring the court down to 3.0?

A lead feather.  I have been gaining weight since college.  I can fluxuate 5+/- pounds quickly but the other 10 I gained since college will not go away.

Dude, 98% of everyone gains weight after College!  As you get older, your metabolism slows and things of this nature and thats just the way it goes.    ;-()

Played yesterday on the outdoor courts and it felt pretty good overall!  Compared to the much faster indoor courts, outside the ball really bites up for you and gives you plenty of time to get to it and have a good full swing at it!  I think the outdoor surface plays to my advantage greatly as I don't have to get as low as I do for the indoor low, fast groundies!

Once we started practicing serves, the surface change really showed itself with some huge kick serves that we have not seen since last Summer!  Scott was hitting some seriously nice ones that had good bite and a lot of movement!  Freebird hit a lefty kick serve later during play that I almost dislocated some hips on just to return it.  I did return it though which was the important thing!  We played with a new guy that was solid and would be a good addition to our team.  Overall, played roughly a set and a half, hit many groundies, and did some mini tennis for a while!  Beautiful weather, 70's and sunny!   "Gotta say it was a good day"!   :)

I decided to keep track of my golfing in here as well!    I have played 9 holes twice @ Shamrock on Monday nights subbing in my buddy's league.   First time somewhere around 50, second time was a 50.  I also went out with JT for 18 holes a couple of Saturdays ago at Kings Mill (Waldo) and shot a 99.  This time was really sweet and I played decent to get myself sub-hundo!  I have been putting suprisingly well but the rest of my game has been here and there!  BTW, until this season, I have not played more than 3 times in the past 3 years so I have enjoyed playing with more regularity!

9 holes at Shamrock again on the back nine last night.  I don't think I can golf much worse than that.  I shot a 57.........ouch!  I was playing bogey golf through 3 holes with a double, then bogey, then par.

Hole 13 I hit right of the green on a par 3, had a very delicate pitch over a bunker with a tight right side of green pin placement, and barely hit it into the bunker.   I truly missed hitting the perfect shot by like a foot or 2, my penalty was a sand shot with a large 3-4 ft. grass face on the bunker right in front of my ball and the pin still delicately only 5-10 ft. from me.  The only sand shot I have ever hit is basically swinging very hard and the ball will pop up and out about 15 ft.   This one called for better touch which is not easy out of the sand!    I hit it out of the bunker on my 3rd try, after giving up on getting the ball close to the hole.    This left me a very long put which I hit nicely and placed within a foot of the hole, and took my 7 on a par 3.  My confidence and focus was s**te for the rest of the night!    Looking back, I guess I should have pitched my second shot into the middle of the green and 2-putted for my bogey.........sure would have been better than a 7!   :(     Oh well, back to tennis tomorrow night, where I can expect better confidence from myself!

Maybe you can make a weekly title for your golf adventures - something like "non-fitness log"!!   :)~   Seriously, though, golf adventures are entertaining stuff in my book as well.  Maybe you can use this to get Dallas' husband on board T4U, since he's a golfer!
