The open singles draw is LOADED. That's as good a draw as I've seen in a while. #1 seed played for SMU last year. I officiated a match he was in at a tourney and he is a super nice kid. His dad always comes with him.

I have been telling everyone the same. I am used to singles draws with around 15 players and this one has 23 or 24 and a handful or so of solid players!

Next we play W. Thiemen and D. Kahn. DK played 4.5 recently and the other is the kid from UA who is supposed to be quite good.

I am surprised this Thiemen kid isn't playing in the ridiculously strong jr tourney at our club (unless he did and lost already). Kobelt plays again today. Last night I watched one of the kids who beat the Diaz'. Big lefty with a nice kick serve.

Those 3 you mentioned are serious players! All better than us easily and at a much younger age. Nice that you got to see them.

I forgot to mention that I hit with Brent R. after the match last night. We were hitting hard. The ball was in play for long stretches and it wiped me out pretty good although I was already tired from a long day of rough work.

You could look at many a tourney result from him. I think he is a fairly solid player.........I think he would be a decent 4.5 singles player.

Played in the semis of the tourney with Scott this evening against W. Thiemen and D. Kahn. We were spanking them 5-1 and serving for the 1st set when Scott hurt his calf muscle. The match was raw ass after that. I did not handle the rest of the match well at all. I think we won 1 more game after that and then retired at 1-4 in the second set. Suckage all the way around. And the worst part of it is now Scott is left with another injury to nurse back to normality. Good luck Scott.

So you guys didn't retire right away huh?

I wasn't sure how bad the injury was or how it would go after it. As poorly as they were playing in the 1st set, I thought we could still beat them or at least finish out the 1st set. As I said before, I handled the aftermath very poorly.

I hit with VIC tonight. He was pretty tired and it showed in the strokes, although he was hitting the ball well early. We hit for a half hour or so where I struggled to gain the feel and consistency but then we decided to play a set. VIC broke me right away but then struggled and I got the break back and then the last 3 games of the set to take it 6-3. We played some more games to me up 4-1 and then we stopped. We then talked about life and stuff while sipping some cold ones! Nice!

I have a tourney singles match tomorrow night against a dude that is 18 or younger. He won his 1st round 6-0, 6-0. I have to believe that I am at least slightly better than him but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Not to put any pressure on you, but the guy you play lost to Chase T 0 & 3 in the 18s or 16s or whatever. You should be required to play this match while smoking a stoagie.

Chase is better than his dad right? I am a bit surprised at that result.

Played my 1st round singles match today against B. Yost. I snuck by with the 7-5, 6-4 win. Good thing it ended in 2 sets. I won the 1st 3 games and he the next 4 games!

We both returned extremely well. He was slicing alot of balls and near lines which made me work some points. I was able to break his serve quite a bit and many deuce games............I didn't play break points that well tonight. He put pressure on my serve most of the night which was kind of frustrating. He also liked to come to net which should play to my hand but he volleyed well and I was barely missing way too many passing shots. He was a very nice guy which made it a fun match altogether.
