Last night, Scott and I played against the great J-ster and 2M. 2M is a guy that plays for our club's other 4.5 team in the USTA leagues. Scott and I won 5-7, 7-6, 6-2. We were all holding serve until I got broke at 5 all in the 1st set. To that point was not that exciting as we were holding serve fine but didn't have a single break point chance. After getting broke and dealing with some unacceptable errors, I literally checked out of the match. I was playing un-inspired tennis, to say the least!
Next thing I know, we lost the 1st set 5-7, and were quickly down 2 breaks at 0-3 in the 2cnd set. Scott was insistent that we get back into the match, so I aired my grievance of us still not having a single break point chance. Scott said that was about to change then we proceeded to return better and won the 2cnd set 7-6.
I told Scott at the beginning of the 3rd set that there was no reason we couldn't play that perfect set where we return all serves without missing any! I missed 3 returns and Scott missed only 2 in the whole 3rd set! We held all of our service games and won the 3rd set 6-2.
Needless to say, I started to play inspired tennis when we were down 0-3 in the second set and Scott was insisting upon it. All in all, it was a very good match!
