I have a question for you You are a really really tall dude, how big a part is bending your knees in your game? I am just 5'10 and I realize that the more I bend my knees the better my shots - now that surely can't be due to height alone because I guess bending your knees gives you that extra power from the legs when you push up and forward but still. And you as I mentioned are pretty tall, what do you do for slices and low bouncing balls? Just bend your back down to reach or bend your knees?
Well - I see your knees trouble you but what do you think the effect would be had they not been troubling you and you could bend them as much as you like?

Everyone, regardless of height, should bend their knees and basically stay somewhat low to the ground always!  Watch the pros closely and you will see how they do it.

If I bent my knees better I would proly play overall better!  Hope that answers your question!

Basically, you don't want to bend from the waist, you want to instead bend at the knees and keep the rackethead up, especially on volleys.  And for the serve, the knee bend is CRUCIAL!  That's where the power comes from, by bending the knees and EXPLODING  UP AND OUT over the ball.  This is the same as a power pitcher in baseball.  All the great strike out pitchers like Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, Tom Seaver.....they really utilized their legs in producing some serious heat.  Now, when you combine a knee bend with the snapping of the wrist and follow through on the first serve, you can do some serious damage to a good returner.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

You got that one right brother.   ;>) .  The first serve has lost a few mph due to that.  But the main problem is just plain old ordinary maneuvering around the court, especially side to side.

Last night played with The once Great, now Tired Jeffro!  That baby is wearin' his a$$ out!   :)~
Kidding aside, it was tired, uninspired, low quality stuff.....for the most part!  The serving was big and the returning was not!  The scores were close against DW and MC.....we won the 1st set and they won the next 2!   My return was fine but my 2cnd and 3rd strokes, after the return, were not!   Kudos to our opponents for applying the pressure!  Next!

Sounds like VIC and I 2 weeks ago.  Not fun stuff, well, kinda fun.  2nd and 3rd shots were severely lacking.  Like I mentioned before, I am DC until he returns, so I play tonight and then Saturday.  In 2 weeks and the next week I play twice on Saturdays.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

I am subbing for Phil Crocket.  You should call VIC and see if you can be him.  I think he is out those 2 weeks too.

I'm glad you ended up not needing them, because I'll need them the next time I watch you play.

Good luck on the court is nice to have, but it's usually extraneous when playing against Baker.

I tried to get him out Tuesday after work, but he ducked me.  But that's OK, I worked on my serve instead.  He just chose to pay later.
