Racquety-Yak
« on: February 06, 2005, 10:35:17 PM »
Racquety-Yak was a forum with some great posters and I just swung by there today to find out they were shutting down for good.  They had one of the cleanest boards on the net which is always refreshing to see.

The Admin actually referred them over to Tennis4you as a good spot to post.  I thought that was really cool of their Admin.  I had worked with him bofore as they have hosted some of my articles and vis versa, Mat Galemo is part of the Lesson Lounge at Tennis4you.

Anyways, if you are from Racquety-Yak and are checking out Tennis4you, I hope you stick around, I already sorta know some of you, I hope to get to know you die hard tennis fans better.  :)
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Hello Scott,

Yes, Mat Galemmo ran a real great Bullboard on Racquety-Yak.

 ://

I'm going to miss that board. Too bad Mat could not get the members to make it the first "Member governed" tennis forum. :(

Yeah, I saw his request.  I figured it would be no problem, I did not expect to see the forum announcement today.  All the best to Mat, he is a great guy.

You are more than welcome here.  I look forward to your posts.

Hi, I just had the pleasure to register and I want to thank you Scott for granting us asylum. :H

I'm a bit sad the rackyak years have abruptly ended but I always knew racquety-yak could not go on forever because there was so little activity.
Anyway nice of Mat to have left a notice instead of just shutting it all without warning.

I hope more of the RacYak members are going to register here  and I'm also looking forward to meeting new tennis fans here.   :bye1:

Thank you for the invitation to your bbs, Scott.

My only regret is that I could not bring my Bracquety (sp?) Challenge trophy with me.   :winner:

lol, bring it in spirit yo, in spirit!  :)

I am glad you made it over here!  I look forward to your posts!

And indeed, you will have a chance to win yet another trophy at the FO.  We started a Tennis4you seeding challange this yera at the slams.  Guess which round the top 16 seeds will lose in.  I am still looking for suggestions.  We only gave one point for each right answer and had a bunch of ties.  Next time we might do something like 1 point for the 1-4 rounds, 2 points for quarters, 3 points for semis and 4 points for finalist, 5 for winner.

But I am definitely open to suggestions.  We will break it down and look at it closer as the FO draws closer.  :)

 :welcome)

If you're going to do anything with a "Bracquety Challenge", stick to the format that was used on Racquety-Yak. That worked very well, and is a familiar established method. ://

Scott, :(

On second thought......wouldn't that be plagiarism?

You wouldn't want to have a plagiarized feature on your board, would you?

Besides, Mat is working on a new forum. He most likely would install that feature again, bigger and better than before. :H

Don't steal it from him, that would be wrong!

Hi everyone

My PC has been very temperamental recently so I have only just discovered the demise of RY.  It's great to see some old friends here and I hope to make some new ones.

Hi M-Cx, :)

Glad you joined up! :H

You can still see what's going on  on the Bullboard, and post until the end of the month.

Take a look, it will fill you in on what's been going on. :;:-|

My problem is that I have never played the Bracquety Challange and I do not know what it is.  Is it similar to what I listed above?  We just chatted about it before the AO and that is what we briefly came up with.  We certainly do not want to plagerize.   ;-()

Yo! Scott,

You can check out the format for the "Bracquety Challenge" on Racquety-Yak now.

Mat has posted it for you to see.

It is nothing like the "seeding challange" you have here. You certainly can continue with that format. You wouldn't be infringing on anything that Mat had designed in that case. :H

I just wanted to welcome all of the new people from Racquety-Yak. I am new to this forum too, so we are in the same boat. I have only been a member for one day and find it is very friendly. Have fun. :))

I join with Trente-Quinze (whatever the heck that means...oh, shoot, can't we just keep calling you "Arnod," you silly Frog?) in thanking you for granting the Yakkers asylum here. Here's hoping we don't turn it INTO an asylum.  :))

Whew, glad to hear the seeding challange thing we do here is different, we will carry on with that format and define it as we go.  I think our next step is to just award more points like I mentioned above for picking players to go further so we can get out of having a 3 way tie for first place.  :)

Welcome RY board members!!!

Hey, Scott, during the AO, we began a new "contest/trophy" appropriately called the Buttmunch Trophy. It was a dubious honor, to say the least. Those who chose players in the Bracquety Challenge to reach, for instance, the quarters but who, like Moya (btw, I'm still pissed at him), went out early earned the ignominious "trophy." There was some talk (was it Arnod or Dagnat) who suggested we might actually figure out a way to award points for earliest exits. I know it sounds pretty goofy but could be fun. That way those of us who are feeling brave (okay, sometimes stupid  ;;) ) are more willing to stick our necks out for some of the longshots. Might have a shot of "winning" either way.
