Live Video from Marseilles this week
« on: February 08, 2005, 04:28:13 PM »
The Open 12 tournament site has a live video feature, and the video quality is very decent!

Right now, (5:30 pm EST), Rusedski and Llodra are in the second set.  There's a scoreboard on the screen as well.

Go to

http://www.open13.org/R3_public/R3-1_fr/R3-1-14_panoramique/F3-1-14.cfm

and click "match en direct" where the finger-pointer is in the middle of the screen.

That's a pretty good draw, should make for an interesting tournament.

Coria and Nalbandian, Dent and Pimpim Johansson (who beat Ferrero today), Soderling (Milan winner last week) Ljubicic, Ancic (who took out titleholder Hrbaty yesterday) and so on.

Ferrero is my favorite player and all but who hasn't beaten the guy lately?

Isn't the internet cool?!  :H

I am excited about this event because I have Gilles Simon in a tennis contest on another site and he not only qualified, but beat Thomas Johansson today.

The website is not the best I have ever seen but there is an English-speaking version. Look out for the British flag on the homepage.

You knew Gilles Simon before this tournament? I am very impressed. Even I cannot exactly remember ever reading about him even though I have the French Tennis mag.  ..-)

I discovered Simon when I had to do some research for a contest on another site. The contest was to pick a player (or two if you wanted two chances to win) ranked between 101 -200 in the 2004 year-end rankings and whoever has the player that goes up the most over 2005 wins. Of course, players like Marcos Baghdatis were taken very fast. So, I did some research on the ATP site and came up with Gilles Simon and Tobias Summerer (GER). Simon moved up about 310 spots in the rankings over 2004 and Summerer moved up 372 spots. So far, Simon is up around 30 spots this year and Summerer is up 18 or so. Not bad. But, Baghdatis is up over 60 positions. He appears to be the real deal.

Oh OK, you're talking about  the tennis week site aren't you? That's why your name looked somewhat familiar to me.

I lurk there everyonce in a while. Even tried posting a couple of times many years ago but kept forgetting my password!

The board has a few very good posters but its design is not very fan-friendly I'm afraid.

That's it and I agree the tennis week message board needs some work. But, I like the posters, even if several think I am a woman. But, it is the internet, and you never know who you are really dealing with on these message boards.

The Tennis Week forum is ok.  I too do not think it is user friendly.  No one ever responds to a post I make, so I stopped posting there a long tme ago.

By the way, Gilles Simon lost to Pimpim (you didn't think he was going to beat 2 Johanssons in a row?!)

And for all those of us who cannot wait to know what he looks like: ..-)

here
and there!

That's indeed much more clear (clearer?)  now.  :blues-brothers:

Arnod's links worked for me . . .

And as for the video matches, I saw the Schüttler-Nalbandian match yesterday.  What a heartbreaker: Rainer was up a break in the second set and let it get away.  Then in the third, he got a break and served for the match, but Nalbandian saved every match point (I think there were 2 or 3) and broke.

Then Nalbandian served it out.  :tragic:  I was thinking that Schüttler was getting his act together again after a dismal year.  Well, maybe he still is!

The links work, but TQ tried displaying them as images first and since they were asp functioned they would not show up here.  (I think)
