During the Clijsters-Hantuchova match, Mary Carillo asked Pam Shriver whether Kim had the goods to be inducted into the HOF. Mary said she and Pam are on the panel that decides such matters.

M: If Kim doesn't play another match, does she have a HOF resume?
P: Absolutely. 1 slam and 4 finals.
M: That's enough?
P: Oh, and 1 doubles slam. Sure, Sabatini just got in and she had just 1 slam title.
M: Well, O.K. then.

At least it made me chuckle--Sabatini is a joke. I just wonder if "my guy" Kafelnikov will make it. You never find his name on any list, yet he has the goods. I've long wondered how much the "sexy" factor plays a role in all of this. Yevgeny certainly doesn't make anyone's "sexy" list. Maybe not sexy, but one of the best interviews ever. Quick witted and self-depricating sense of humor.

I really think it depends on the pool from which to choose from. There seems to be a feeling that at least one player and at least one player from the distant past, and one influential exectutive, or reporter must be elected each year. There has to be a ceremony during the tournament. So sometimes they've got to do some dredging.
