7-3 as a sophomore playing #2 is not too shabby at all!  Is you #1 graduating this year?

Yep, but we are getting a dynamite freshmen.  (His brother who was #1 on our team in the 07 season was state runner up.)  I will more than likely play #2 behind him, but there is a decent possibility I can beat him.

Take it to him and show him who's boss!  It will be good for your team to have a really solid top 2 players though regardless.

Yeah, we are really shaping up to have a great year next year.  We are only losing the #1 player, and the freshman we have coming in is an improvment over him, and with much of the returners practicing over the summer we will do nothing but improve, not to mention that every other team in our district are having major loses, except the #1 team who we can't compete with anyway, and the #4 team, who we lost 5-4 to this year.  The good news is that the top 3 teams make regionals, and based on what I've seen from last year it looks like we are top 3 for sure, with our returners.

That is awesome.  Back in high school I had no sense of "team".  I was the only player who played year around and it was a bad area for tennis.  Of course now I play USTA and it is all about the team (Unless OSU asks me if I want to play singles).  So that is cool, I hope you guys kick some serious butt next year!

Okay well, my season is over now.  I played number two singles and number two doubles again this year.  I went 8-2 in singles, and 9-1 in doubles so not too shabby.  I earned second team all district honors (Six players to a team).  Because of my good season, I got to play in the district tournament, which is a singles individual tournament and doubles tournament.  It has nothing to do with the team.  The finalists, and third place winner of the singles and doubles district tournament go on to regionals and then states if they make it that far.  Unfortunately I had a crap draw and drew the state runner-up from last year and went down 6-0, 6-3.  Then in doubles my partner and I made it to the semi-finals but lost in the third place match so we didn't get to go to the regional doubles tournament.  My team went 8-2 overall in regular season play, so we finished in 3rd place and made regionals, but we lost in the first round to the state runner-up team from last year, and the favorited team to win it all this year.  Overall it was a successful season, just a really bad post season draw in every aspect except for the doubles tournament.

Nice job!!  Anyone that can take 3 games in 1 set against a player that caliber must be pretty good!
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

Hey guys how is it going? I don't have much tennis to update ya'll on except my senior season which was over a year ago so I won't really go into that haha.  Well I just finished my freshman year of college.  I am starting to hit more now that summer is here but I did not keep up with the professional tour at all during the school year.  Next year I am going to try to play on my University's club tennis team though so if that goes well I will definitely be "back into the swing of things." ahah.

So how has everyone been?

I've run into some phenomenal players.  Guys who can knock the yellow off a ball.  But I ended up going to the same college as my high school doubles partner of 3 years so the few times I did hit it was with him.

I've lost my status as a playa and have been relegated to just talkin' 'bout the game with the knuckleheads kind folks here at T4U!
I now live my tennis life vicariously through Babblelot, Scooter, & JamesDster. :paper bag:

Have fun tuning up your game this summer!  Any plans to play leagues or tourneys?  What about taking some lessons?

Probably no lessons as my parents don't pay for that type of thing anymore; seeing how they just forked over thousands of dollars for my first year I can't say I blame them one bit haha.  However I am looking to join a 4.0 league that I was in prior to college.  I just have to wait for a new cycle/schedule to come out.  My Dad and I are planning to play in a father/son doubles tournament coming up

Leagues are the best!  I have met some many good friends and players through the leagues!  I would not trade it for anything!

Hit at the local club with my dad last night and got a set in.  It was really fun.  So great to get back out.  Playing again today.  I've missed it.
