Thanks for the review, Babble - it's always nice to have some direction when listening to new or even somewhat unfamiliar material. I definitely need to relisten to Antic, because my first impression was that Turn on the Bright Lights was better. And I hope I don't steer you wrong on the new one!

I'm pretty sure you've mentioned Modest Mouse before, and I figure you're also pretty familiar with Kill Hannah, because they're from Chi-town.

I spent about 24 years in the '80s before deciding I was getting old and needed to find some new tunes. I'm a Rhapsody subscriber now and somewhat at the mercy of what they highlight, but here are some of the acts I've been into lately:

Yeah, unlike most, my progression has been linear. I started with The Cars and DEVO in the late '70s, through The Smiths, REM, U2 and New Order in the '80s, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and the Foo Fighters in the '90s and haven't stopped. No one I know has heard of any of the bands I listen to. Most are stuck in the '80s, or worse, devotees of Pink Floyd (period). This year I saw both The Shins and Modest Mouse in concert--that was my third Mouse concert. Saw The Killers in '04 when they were comers. Hot Fuss is supreme, but I don't like what little I've heard from their follow up, so I have let them go for now. Kings of Leon were fantastic. Trying to acquire a taste for a bunch of youngin's that call themselves Silversun Pickups. "Lazy Eye" might be one of the greatest songs... ever! I was able to YouTube it some time ago; you should give it a listen. It's one of those very rare songs that, from the very beginning, it hooks you and makes you stop whatever you're doing. However, I wouldn't yet recommend the CD.
I did pick up Interpol, new Smashing Pumpkins (also a Chicago band) and another Incubus. No worries on the Interpol CD. All I needed was a slow day at the office. I was going to get it anyway.
