This last week or so I have been listening to all of Cakes music. I cannot get enough of it, very god stuff.

I agree with Dallas, I have been liking a lot of old school jazz and R&B and soul lately. I also have liked Wilco a lot lately, and the Fratellis, a new band from Scotland, they have an awesome sound!

P.S Dallas I'm not sure who sings it, but I just heard the song River Deep, Mountain High, and it has a great sound about it, and the singer is just fantastic.

You could look up Cake on Amazon.com and listen to 30 second sound clips if you like. The CD Pressure Chief is good stuff.

A little story if I may....
I was a PFC stationed on Okinawa, and had just come back to my room after listening to my Lieutenant telling tales of his experiences in Vietnam (Bouncing Betties, punjie sticks, that kind of thing). I plopped down in my bed (we called it a rack) with my walkman, some headphones, and my just purchased cassete of The Final Cut. Now Pink Floyd is fantastic headphone music so I was really enjoying another emotional rollercoaster of a Pink Floyd album. I get through the Gunner's Dream and it quitely fades away with 'take heed of the dream, take heed...' and the the acoutic Paranoid Eyes which ends with a quitly whispered 'behind brown and mild eyes...' I was really relaxed and probably half asleep. I hear off in the distance 'hey... get your filthy hands off my desert!'.... 'what'd he say?'

.....and a bomb goes off at full volume in my ears!

I don't remember hitting my head on the bunk above mine when I jumped up, but I very well could have. I will never forget the shock of that moment.

pink floyd is amazing. time and breathe are two of my favorites. theres just something about listening to it while you're in an altered state, whether caused by drugs or not.

Nice story! I really like Animals, of course, I like all the others as well!

Been listening all night to Dragnet from 1951.
Consistantly well written and acted it was among the cream of the crop of radio drama.
What was funny to me, and a bit tragic; was this quote from the last episode;
"drove out Sunset Blvd to the Bel Air district. ... It was a white framed colonial mansion set back from well manicured gardens. The other homes in the neiborhood were just as large. $50,000 and up."

For those who aren't familar with the LA area Bel Aire is where the movie stars used to live. It's still incredibly rich and expensive. But not $50,000, more like $10 million and up. This was 1951. That's like 2000% inflation over 60 years.

Loved all their early (74-late 70) stuff. Equinox being my favorite which included "Lorelei" and the greatest rock song EVER written.... "Suite Madam Blue"
