Topic: Gas prices??? What are you paying at the pump?

Just filled up in North Jersey and cost me $2.65 a gallon.  I don't know how the people that drive the big 4x4's do it.  I have a hard time shelling out $35 for a tank a gas.  And it will usually last me about 1 1/2 weeks.  Some of my co-workers say they sometimes fill up 2x a week at $50+. OUCH!

I fill up once a week but the majority of my driving is to work meetings so all of that is reimbursed.  I usually get about $200.00 per month for mileage.

I have a V-8 for pulling heavy loads (set up for Babble) and typically go through $75-$100/week.
Thank goodness it's tax-free.

I drove past the gas station knowing I needed gas.  It was $2.50 at the time.  I drove by 3 hours later and it was $2.74 and that's when I needed to fill up.  Boned...

Do you guys also look for the cheapest station? Or do you simply go to the one that's closest?

I look for the cheapest station, but we (Chicago) have the highest prices in the country. These guys are paying $2.65 to $2.75. There are a lot of stations near me. They are $3.19. I drive a couple, three miles to a station that's consistently lower than others at around $3.05.

I typically go with the closest to my house, but I notice it is usually the cheapest of the ones I frequently pass so I kind of luck out there!

Something is seriously whack! I was driving through town the other day and two intersections with gas stations facing one another. One advertised price was $3.49 the one across the street was $3.18. Further down, same thing. One was $3.33 the one across the street was $3.13.
 

I'll be head back through there this weekend and check the prices again. Maybe one station was still serving "old" cheaper gas.

lol  The station advertising $3.49 is out of business. I guess that sign hadn't been changed in a while. As for the other intersection, I mussa been comparing premium to regular.

I fear that the oil prices will rise over the decades to come, you know, should we "really" run out of oil, but far as I know they also use that as an excuse to bump the price, they are still finding new sources where they can drill.
