Prices are that high for fuel and insurance prices have gone up so much that I'm on the verge of just parking the car up and refusing to use the damn thing as it costs more to run now than what could ever be justified for it. Sometimes it feels as though you may as well not go to work as your car will take most of the damn money!

As might be expected from a neighboring thread, I became aware a few years ago that I could survive quite well without a car but in no way could I manage without a computer. When my computer died a few months ago, this became grim reality. Fortunately, amazon.com replaced it within 3 days. Nowadays, the greatest need for the car is getting to tennis. Tennis courts tend to be off the main public transport routes. I have not driven the car into downtown Washington for two or three years. The metro is much more cost, time, and stressfree effective. I've had the current car for 10 years and I just clocked up 35,000 miles.
Car is still the most convenient way to get across to Cincy for the tennis. Hopefully, but it is probably wishful thinking, gas prices will go down before August.
