Venus vs Clijsters
« on: February 18, 2005, 11:38:43 AM »
The match is scheduled to happen today.  I really like both players so I am torn.  I am almost leaning towards Kim because she is just coming back.  I think Venus has the edge though.  If Kim can hustle enough down and keep her shots deep I think she will give Venus fits.

Anyone know when they play today?

I hope I'm logged in. Anyway, they play at 1:30 Eastern (10:30 Pacific). The website (which I don't have the link for at the moment) has a scoreboard as well. I think.

I am hoping Kim pulls through on this one.  This would be a "BIG" win for her coming off such a long, long time away from the game.  I believe they are playing around 7:30 p.m. Bel. time so I would imagine it should be starting soon.  (Don't know the time difference).  You can follow it Live via the Proximus Games website.

C'mon Venus.  Gotta go with my county-woman.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

I am liking this livescore.com, whoever posted that link earlier, thx!

Venus is crushing Kim 6-2, 5-2.  Looks like it is only a matter of time now.

Edit - 6-2, 6-3 for Venus.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

www.LiveScore.com is a nice website.  They keep it updated fairly well.  What I wish they would show is the score of each game.  They only update the score when the number of games has changed.

I have not yet checked the live feeds.

:lmao: omgosh...Venus absolutely demolished Kim. I can't say that it was that huge of a win this being only Clijsters' 3rd (??) match back but I figured Kim was playing well based on her win over Nadia Petrova who is a fairly decent player. I expected a tough match but Venus took hold of this match and really impressed me with how badly she beat a player she should've badly beat. Lately -- it's been sketchy w. Williams becuz she hasn't been crushing players she should crush. And tho Kim is a good player, until she's back no track -- there's no reason for Venus or any of the other top players to lose to her. I'm glad Venus took care of business.

Two more matches till that trophy is HERS. Go venus

Who are these players you are referring to.   Do you really consider Davenport and Sharapova players Venus should crush, LOL!   Get real.

Guest --

I was trying to say "back on track" typo, sorry.

And no, I don't think Venus should crush Davenport,Sharapova,or Serena. They're the cream of the crop -- and I wasn't saying Venus was the best in the world. Those are players that it should be a gamble against everytime she plays. And indeed it has. The last time Venus played Davenport it was 7-5 6-4 and the time before that it was something like 7-6 7-5. She's competing but she's not quite where she could be (winning some of those matches).  But players like Myskina, Mauresmo and Molik are players that Venus should be beating the majority of the time. And players like Karolina Sprem, Mary Pierce....those are players Venus should absolutely demolish everytime she steps on court w. them. A rusty Kim Clijsters would go into that category as well.

IMO, much like ill logic, I agree that Venus is at the very top of that second par. She's not quite up there w. Serena, Lindsay or Maria but right after the three of those you have Venus & Mauresmo and Svetlana Kuznetsova. I'm hoping that Venus gets back on track and when she does, there's no doubt she'll be thrown in the mix w. the Sharapovas and the Davenports.

As for her semi-final today against Myskina -- if she wins this, I'm convinced that she is back.

Actually I dont log in right away since I am doing other things online,
and I sometimes like to say something without taking the extra time to log in.   I am sure you would love to form some conspiracy theory against anybody who does not adore the Williams, unfortunately one does not exist in this case.

Oh yes, and I assumed Sharapova and Davenport for obvious reasons, whom are the two players Venus has played most often in the last 8 months?   She has played Lindsay atleast 3 times, Maria only twice but all in the last few months going back to the end of last year.
