Nadal def Martin 6-0 6-7 6-1 in Brazil Open Final
« on: February 19, 2005, 09:48:47 PM »
Nadal won his second ATP tournament today.  He was up 6-0, 4-0 when Martin decided to change things around...  Nice win for Nadal, I am still anxious to see how he does on the red clay this year.  Could he be a major threat at the FO?
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Nadal will be a definite threat at Roland Garros this year.  He IS a left after all  :)~
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

I wish i coulda seen the match, but no tennis channel. Im so happy he won. And he is gonna stir things up at Roland Garros. Hes a lefty hes really tough, you take him to 5 sets and hes just fine. Hes an endurance player, he does better with longer matches. He loves clay. He didnt play the French last year due to a stress fracture in his foot. So im really hoping for the best.
Its all good...

He grew up on the clay.  I would love to see him do great at the FO.  I think a week 2 showing is in his future.  Hopefully he can get deep into week 2.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

Betsmoyo, that is one adorable picture of Nadal. Thanks! I hope he does really well in Paris. He could be the next Guga, I think. Let's hope he doesn't get injured like Guga though.

Im hoping he does better than Guga and wins other slams, he can play on other surfaces. We saw what he could do in Oz. (BTW- the pic is cute, but its a lil old, like a year or so) but he still isnt near mature enough in his game to win slams on hard grass or rebound. I say he'll win French first and repeat it a couple times butthen Oz is his next best shot. The heat doesnt bother him at all and the surface is slow enough and not too fast and hes a fighter. He'll have the hardest time with Wimby but you never know. Im getting too ahead of myself!

This was a great tournament for Nadal!  I think he has some great things ahead of him.  He should make the French Open very entertaining this year, and many more years to come.
