He was getting creamed by Federers great play, it had little to do with Safin 'letting it slip'. There wasn't much he could do.

I suppose, but Safin did have a break in the 2nd set.

But from there he lost it 6-2 (had been 2-0 up, lost 6-4) which was again due to Federers dominance. Federer had a short bad patch to go 2-0 down, and came back, unsurprisingly, with a vengeance.

Yeah, but it's just the luck of the draw that Safin had to face Federer anyway.

I have to agree, he didn't 'let it slip', he just didn't show up. He played a horrible grass court match against the best grass court player in the world.  He had no chance.

At least he forced a tiebreaker in the last set.

Personally, I don't think he'd have had a chance however well he played, although he didn't help himself by hitting 25 UE's to 16 Winners. Federer hit 29 winners, 19 UE's.

Exactly, he could've won a set if he hadn't made so many mistakes.

Thanks for uploading !
By the way, I was wondering...who makes these highlights? (because I find them a bit short, with less spectacular shots than usual, and I can find some other ones on the net, which are not exactly the same as those which are uploaded here)
And another question: are these highlights made by the same person who made the Australian Open (the points played there were much better in my opinion) and French Open highlights?

It is the same person who made the AO files.  He loves Federer and make the highlights when Fed wins.  I am not sure what his name or handle is though.  Sorry!  If you ever see any highlights please feel free to post them.  Always looking for new highlights.

Ok thank you ! (his nickname on youtube was erichman; but his account was suspended :'( )
So it's not "official" highlights?
Here are some other highlights of Federer's 3 previous matches:

The problem is that people can't find these videos by searching normally on youtube, because of the tags. But if there were "Wimbledon" or something like that in the tags, it would be deleted :'(

Cheers PamQnx. I've never bothered with megaupload, so it's nice to see some highlights on youtube for once.

Sorry about that, the lower case g's and q's look very similar in the usernames.  We had the same problem with CGW.  Sorry again.

I thought the Safin hightlights were the weakest of the lot. I guess there were a few serves hitting linespeople and it must have been some sort of a running joke.
I guess the quality of Safin's play determined the quality of the hightlights. So many of them were errors rather than winners.
