Talk about kickin my own ***!
« on: February 22, 2005, 10:14:10 PM »
I went over to Laker Hall today to practice in the racquetball room, only to find all the doors locked. So I went into the gymnasium and had the whole thing to myself for 2 HOURS! I hit the wall in there and was able to move freely from side to side.  I must say the hardwood floor in there bouces even lower than the racquetball court floor and MAN WAS IT FAST! But it was a good practice. I ran spints and footwork drills across the entire gym for 45 minutes and an hour and 15 minutes of hitting. I AM BEAT!

Maybe this should be in the state of my game....but this is more about the state of my ass and it being throughouly kicked!

NCAA Division III tennis begins on March 1'st! I'm psyched....I know its division III but what the hell? Its TENNIS!

Hell yeah it is!!!

Tough work out.  15 minutes on the wall can wear people down loet alone what you did today.  Feels good though yes?

I like hitting on gym floors now and then, makes you prep the racquet very early, never a bad thing to do.
Good Luck on the Court!!!

I taught myself how to hit ground strokes hitting off the wall.  I still do to this day.
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

Well that makes sense, hitting with you is like hitting against a wall, you don't miss from that baseline...

Groundstrokes are still something I need to improve.  I don't make a whole lot of unforced errors from the baseline, but I hit short far too often and that is one om my achille heels.  But YOU my friend are a wall.  How can you hit a ball past someone who runs a 4.2 40?

What is so frustrating about my game is that I am always in place, but I do not have the hands to return everything I get to.  I see someone like Randy miss a few shots he sets up for and he can get pissed off.  Heck, I am almost always set up, and still miss too much.

Against someone like you I try to do too much, but against others I feel like I can run it all down and make them play another ball.  And I think you only hit short so we can come to the net and you can roll that nasty a$$ forehand dipper cross court and make us look silly.

I DOOOOO luv that forehand crosscourt flick.  It is the funnest shot to hit.  It's sort of like a change up, where you still have racket speed, but come around the ball instead of over it and take a little off.  I wish I were hitting short intentionally. haha.
