Grilled Club Samich w/ pepperoni, turkey, ham and cheese!
We got a ton of rain yesterday & last night which knocked the snow down a bit.  I still have 6' high banks at the edge of my driveway!

Whew, 4.5 hours on the courts this morning and I am fried!
1 hour of fitness and footwork with MD.  At 2 times/week it's just not getting any easier.
1 hour of mini tennis and drills.
2.5 hours of dubs.  Pretty much out of gas at this point.
DMast came over for a couple hours and seemed to be hitting better.
Thanks for the tip on the backhand DM, will try to put it to practice.
And thanks for letting me hit your K Feds!  That was fun!  I'm not sure if I'm ready to hang up the Originals just yet but those felt nice.  I especially liked the gut/lux combo.
Time to refuel with a bit of lunch!!! :))

I'll try and put something together to show you what I mean, and explain it better. A picture is worth a 1000 words.  ;-()
Thanks DM!  I'll also poke around on TennisOne and see if I can find some good vids of a one-hander follow through.

One question on the Lux/gut string job.  What's the purpose of  putting the gut in mains?  I would probably put the Lux in the mains for the added durability, but I think Fed plays his the same way you have yours.

1 hour of speed, agility, and quickness with MD, then a light hit followed by 3 TB's.
Serve is feeling nice and relaxed.  High % and good control.
Punished a few FH's today.  MD commented that's the MT I remember.
The first 30min of hitting the movement felt good and I was able to get in position to control the points.  After that I was bushed!  Good stuff!

Hit with Mr. Mark today.  Boy's got skills and with a bit of coaching could be a solid 4.0 in 1-2 years.  For me it's always nice to have time to set up and be able to focus on contact.  The more I work on that the better my strokes get.  Also hit with a couple of my old racquets to give Mark a chance to check out the full gamut of sticks.  I may just restring my daughters 5.3 Hyper Hammer and bring it out for dubs tomorrow night!  Was generating some wicked top with it today!
Anyhow, a couple of fun hours of social tennis that should count as another workout!!!

5 days in a row?  Now that's what I'm talking about!
I was at this casino minding my own business, and this guy came up to me and said, "You're gonna have to move, you're blocking a fire exit." As though if there was a fire, I wasn't gonna run. If you're flammible and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit.  - Mitch Hedberg

5 days in a row is awesome.  Scary that in high school 5 days in a row was a low number, I was getting tennis in twice a day.  Now if I hit 5 days in a row my left knee would be fairly sore by the 5th day.  Day 6 would be resting, day 7 would be tennis.  :)

Looks like all that extra training pays off, 5 days and feeling good, very nice yo!
Good Luck on the Court!!!

5 hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week was my average back then. Wish I could just get in once a week now.  ..-)

Ah yes, the good old days.  I was 3-4 hours per day usually 7 days a week.   Sunday was my fun day, I usually had a lesson at 12:00, I would go ride 28 miles on the bike path and then play tennis for another 4 hours or so.

I had an advanced tennis class for 1.5 hours, then a 3 hour team practice followed by another hour or so of fun dubs, then off to Taco Bell.

Wed. dub update-
MF & I v. RF & DK.  Fully expected to lose 3,4,.  For some reason MF & I clicked and we trounced the 'better' team 6-1, 7-6 (4), 10-8 TB!  I felt like I was moving pretty well and all facets of the game were better than normal, still, if we had lost 2,2 I wouldn't have been as surprised!  Seems like I do really well with partners who can clean up the mess after my strong serves and returns.  I'm then left to play consistent tennis the rest of the time and stay more relaxed.  Needless to say the 'Big Boys' weren't smiling much!

RF-  was able to serve wide to his forehand without getting a wide return in the deuce court.  He didn't lob very much this match.  He served predominantly up the T with me in the deuce court.  He didn't use his slice serve much after I punished a few forehand returns at DK.

DK-  Seemed a bit off in the warmup?????  After several sharp returns directed at him he basically didn't poach at all the rest of the match.  I hit a dozen or so BH returns to him that stayed low and he replied with a shot back to my FH which I handled easily.  I was able to reflex volley a few of his shots at me tho' he usually puts those away.  Handled his serve well, which is no easy task considering the placement, variety, spin, and pace. :)  Am still convinced something was off with him???

MF-  we need to work on communication as there were multiple collisions on lobs when I called for the shot as I had better position and then he'd wander into the area (backing up) to take the shot.  Both DK and RF managed to direct shots down the middle as we both watched the winnner sail by without trying.  This is the 2nd time that I've actively provided tons of positive feedback to him and both our games seemed the better for it.  I've noticed that when things go sour with him it can spiral downward quickly and you better have on a parachute!

btw I'm starting to feel a bit more freedom in the swing on my BH.  Thanks DMast! :thank-you:

Ahhhh, high school, now those were the days!  Double sessions were only interrupted by taking timeout to line up matches for the coming days!!!

Not sure if the training is helping (am sure it is!) or the glucosamine is getting the job done.  Aside from when I mashed my right knee last week, I can't believe how great the bod feels overall!  Even my shoulder is completely pain free and I'm hitting my serve harder (and more often!!!) now than ever before!

Thurs night dubs
DG & I v. PL & DK 6-1,4-6 then switched to singles with JB!
The dubs was ok until I let off the gas a bit and then they found their groove.  DK was playing much better than Wed. afternoon.
Singles 3-6,3-6,2-6 w/no breaks for me.  Oddly enough, S/V with a kicker to his BH was very effective in the deuce court.  Managed to ring up 3 aces and he had 6.  It's been a long time since I've seen a serve with that kind of pace and control.  His slice in the deuce wasn't reliable but the bombs up the T were murder.  Also tweaked me with a couple body serves.  By the 3rd set I was finally catching up to the serve but still not able to do enough with it consistently to be a serious threat to break.  My running crosscourt FH pass on the 10th of a rally to hold serve was the highlight of the night.  A resounding BOOYAH! was my momentary celebration before dropping the set in the next game. :) :( :))

Treadmill  26min.  1.5miles  330cals  105avg  no weights
Treadmill  46min.  2.75miles  665cals  113avg  weights

Nice going monster, but what does the last column mean? Your running with weights?
Please keep in mind there is very little running going on during these workouts! ;-()  A couple of 2 minute trots at 5mph is all my knees can take at this time.  Mostly walking at 3.7-4.2mph at an incline of 6-12%.  For a break I slow the pace and incline down and use 5lb weights to do curls, lateral and front raises and upright rows this keeps the heartrate up around 120+ and gives my legs a break.  I've also started using resistance bands to do chest and back workouts once I get off the treadmill.
Treadmill 48min.  3.25miles  688cals  129avg  weights
Treadmill  33min.  2.1miles   460cals  119avg
Treadmill  34min.  2.2miles   435cals  115avg  weights
